I am about to order an extra receiver box for my True sevice

The TV that is to get the new box is connected to an 10 year old aerial .

Can we use that cable to connect from the satellites dish to the TV and avoid fitting a new cable or would that lose quality

Any advice

Cheers

On a cable that old it may not work at all.

Don't spoil the ship for a ha'porth of tar, the cost of a new cable is minimal.

The TV cable will probably not be of the standard required for a Satellite Antenna, It may work but you can expect some deterioration.

The longer the cable, the worse this affect will be.

I fully understand why you might not want to let the installers loose with a hammer and cable clips in your house, but maybe the better option is to use the old cable to pull through the new.

If you ask the installers advice they will of course look for the easiest option every-time, and grant your wish.

I guess there's no harm in trying - but you should be prepared in future to replace this cable at your own expense.
