Intel 6200 Wifi Card

Featured Replies

Anyone got one of these in the laptop? Mine seems to freeze the laptop from time to time. Not sure if it is local router related? Just downloaded latest driver off Intel web site 14.3 to see if that helps.

Until now only workaround has been to use another brand USB wifi stick in laptop.

I have one working great using linux, everything works (monitor mode, packet injection, etc...). I bought it as a replacement for the realtek chipset that came with my thinkpad as, at that time, there were no in-tree module for this chipset. I'd happily trade the intel against the realtek it if you want (and install it if you're in bkk and not confident about doing it).

Great, thanks for reply. I already have the Intel 6200 card so no need to install it. I am glad to hear you are having success with it. I am running Win7 64bit and Intel 6200 driver 14.2 locks up the entire computer using either True or 3BB Wi-Fi routers. Just trying new driver 14.3 so far with success, but not sure yet.

I didn't realize one could swap out different brand name wifi cards as you have suggested (Realtek to Intel)? Would the BIOS recognize the changes? I have ordered another Intel card (but 6300 rather than 6200) to see if that makes a difference and thinking the similarity may be OK with laptop BIOS.

My Lenovo x201s came with one and it's worked great for years. I have another in a Dell, and one more in an Asus. Very reliable in all of them.

I've just updated to a 450mbps wireless router.. so I ordered a 6300 for the Lenvo as it's my most used.. and my BIOS gives me a "1802 error, you have the wrong wifi card installed. Please install the right wifi card and try again.." Seriously.. So.. it's boxed up and on it's way to Lenovo who tell me they'll need to update their BIOS to accept the new card. Rather have the update than having to send it in, but I suppose they'll want to test it.
