Dental Technician Matters More Than Dentist

Not that I could see or judge but whenever I have my teeth checked, I get compliments for the dental work.

If a crown fits or not is primarily the work of the dental technician, only the fine tuning is done by the dentist.

In one of my crowns a corner is missing, new crown needed.

Whom do you recommend as dental labor + dentist?

My dentist mentioned 7.000b for a metal crown, 15.000b for a porcelain crown.

Ok for good work?

Since I see no reply, I will offer my observations. In 5 years, I have yet to be worked on by a technician, not even for a cleaning. So, while what you say was true quite frequently in the U.S., I would say it is N/A here.

Your mileage may differ.

I would say you are being asked to overpay. At Yanhee Hospital I have had porcelain crowns made for 8,000 baht and this is likely farang price since Yanhee charges farang tax.

Thanks, I thought so, that the quoted price has a direct relation to my breed :-)

I was not saying that a technician will actually work on me but assumed, may be wrongly, the doc doesn't produce the crown himself, rather that the production is done by a technician.

So, to cut this subject short= where do you think you got good technical dentistry done?

My understanding is that only a licensed dentist can put their hand in your mouth. Assistants are limited to holding the suction thing.

I use a dentist I trust. I trust that she has chosen the best possible technician/company to make my crowns, etc. I don't know of anyone who has ever asked "which company do you use to make crowns?" either here or in my home country.

You certainly underrate the precision required to build a fitting crown. The lab is at least as important as the dentist. If the lab screws, up you might be in agony or faced with ugly disputes over pay.
