There needs to be one lane along the beach, used after 2AM by service vehicles only.

I agree, or just one free lane for public transport and commercial vehicles. and then, if they want to have markets all the time they can use the freed up half of the road and keep the footpath free, maybe repave the footpath if they can bring themselves to do it

I think one of the nicest areas in Pattaya is just beyond Balihi peer, it has been destroyed by parked up speedboats dirt oil and machinery - it is a disgrace that they cannot clean this area up it is a natural beauty spot destroyed by a speedboat parking lot why don't they move them somewhere out of site or down the coast a little

LOL...in summary, Beach Road will be widened at the expense of the beach. All the bull about "beautification" is just to mask the real intent. Here is the un-edited version:

Due to City Hall's inability to safeguard one of Pattaya's natural asset i.e. its beach, it is hoped that some tinkering around the edges plus a few band aid solutions may help City Hall avoid accusations of "not doing anything".

Similarly, due to the authorities inability to better manage traffic resulting in chaos on Beach Rd whenever some third rate flea market is in progress or when another dozen Bangkokians drive in for the weekend, it is hoped that a road widening project disguised as "beautification" would alleviate some of the traffic jams that develop on Beach Road.

all they have to do is get rid of 70% of the baht taxis, they alone are the cause most of the traffic congestion on 2nd and beach road and half the ones you see are empty and the rest have 2 or 3 passengers, they are also a serious hazzard as they try and get none existing customers, this is why pattaya will never prosper, in the west everything is controlled with licences, bars taxi's etc etc this keeps the numbers down and provides those that do exist with the chance of actually making a living, just some simple things in this city would make a huge difference

The baht buses are licensed. It's just the ones the sell these licenses want to sell as many as they can to insure their income. They don't much care that the drivers will all have to fight for the limited customers.

it wont be any kind of spot if that proposed apartmeent block gets built there, which goes to show how corrupt the council or whoever runs the place is when they will allow an ugly building to be built that will block both the view from the lookout and the view of the Pattaya sign
