Mukdahan To Hue

Featured Replies

Have been reading some internet material about this journey, but it does not inspire great confidence.

Has anybody got any experience of best buses, tours, journeys etc ?

Travelled twice from Hue to Muk / Sav ...

Get on bus ... get off bus at border .... get back on us ... arrive at destination ... drink beer.

What exactly are you concerned about?

Is it the same bus all the way ? i.e. one ticket and approx how much ?

Delays at border crossings, particularly Lao Bao ?

I did it the other direction--Hue to Mukdahan.

One bus from Hue to Savannakhet: About $25 USD. Stayed overnight in Savannakhet and took local bus across bridge into Mukdahan.

About 15-20 minute delay at Lao Bao while some passengers obtained visa-on-arrival to go into Laos. Always better to get your visas ahead of time at a consulate or embassy here, if required.

Thank you all for the replies so far.

Do you guys know how much a transit visa for Laos costs, or even if it is possible to get a multi-entry tourist visa ?
