Every 4 weeks, or so, I find a dead bird in the front yard or the balcony. Three different species. Today my wife and daughter saw one slam into the house and fall lifeless to the yard below at 3:00 in the afternoon.

It seems unlikely that it could be bird flu, but only sick birds fly into buildings during the day! My guess is pesticide use in the area.

Anyone have any ideas?

Easy way to tell, pick the bird up, part the feathers and take a deep sniff of the bird's skin. Wait a week or so and see if your lungs start bleeding.

Seriously though. I have recently had a couple of domesticated lovebirds, two cockateils and a pair of Iguanas die. All were kept outside and could have been affected by environmental factors.

Annual pollution levels are moving up again - could be related.

Birds sometimes stop functioning if the fly head long into a glass window because they think it is open....hence the term "bird brain".
