I have been asked to sit on the board of directors for the condo building I live in. There is a minimum stipend for attending meetings. Does this require a work permit? I am on extension to stay for retirement and do not want to break the law. Are homeowners allowed to serve on the board of their own jurastic person to protect our investment? Thank you.

If you are not a signing director then you will not need a work permit, ie you have no authority to sign documents on behalf of the company. However, if you are a signing director then you will need a work permit and that would require a change of visas.
