Anyone?

The TMD's website only has warnings for heavy rain in the South and high waves in the Gulf.

No bulletins issued from the Thai National News Bureau yet.

I felt and heard the rumble early in the day and wondered if that was what it was.

Very similar to the one recently but much milder.

Must be less then 4.0 then. Seems BP's threshold is pretty low. :o

Come to think of it, Mrs Ricardo & her chums were practising this morning for being cheerleaders, for the local school extravaganza tommorrow :D so if there is another stronger tremor on Friday-morning, I will know where to lay the blame :D

It was a sight best kept from the faint-hearted :o

I heard a big rumble (well more of a bang ) I said to my Wife that we must be having another earthquake, ..but if nobody else heard it I must be mistaken

Lucky for me, Friday morning's tremors (3.8 & 3.9) were in Chiang Rai, or I guess I'd be a dead man !  :D

:D

Correct... see this thread.

Maybe someone at the BKK Post hit the wrong key on the keyboard when sending out the SMS... :o

M is so close to R... :D

... so what do we have now? Three earthquakes in Northern Thailand in less than 24 hours? One unverified in Chiang Mai Thursday and two in Chiang Rai Friday?

Correct , and none of them in the fault(s) over the Burmese border, which is where our local tremors usually seem to come from.

Are there any 'movers & shakers' in town ? :D

I guess it helps to keep life interesting, up here, but wonder how well-prepared local authorities would be, for a big'un ? I seem to recall buildings in CM over 5-storeys have special earthquake-related standards.

Does anyone know whether there ever has been a big earthquake in this area ? :o

Hey, am I being ignored here or WHAT? As I said above... :o

I must be getting old. The first one was such a bang and shook the house so bad that the wife and I ran outside to look for a column of smoke and debris thinking it was an explosion or plane crash.

The second one, that is being discussed here, we thought was an earthquake but turns out to have likely been an explosion. There is a lot of work going on around us where dynamite is obviously being used and we are not far off the departure end of runway 210.

Noisy place, as is most of Thailand, ya? :D
