Mobile Tire Changer Or Mechanic?

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm not sure if I should be posting this in the Chiang Mai forum or in this one.... but anyway, just wondering if anybody knows the number of a (competent) guy or a shop that can send someone round to my house to change a rear tire on my Elegance? I had it suddenly and rapidly deflate on me whilst going 80kph on Mahidol Rd. It came part off the rim and then pretty much crumbled but I managed to wrestle it back at much reduced speed to my home in Nonghoy, if it hadn't of happened in the early morning hours I could've got it to somewhere to at least have a quick fix done. The couple of bike shops in this area aren't being very helpful as they don't want to do a job on tubeless tires and there's no way I can either drive or get it to shops more central. All the places closer to town or in the city centre that I spoke to today don't want to send anybody out that far, too time consuming I presume. I've already bought my new Dunlops so it's just a quick change.

Any help would be much appreciated

Wow, if somebody knows a Thai workshop, which works accurate, like this guy, I will stop to change my tires myself.....

For the OP:

I think, the best solution would be, to dismantle your rear wheel and take it to a shop....

I doubt, that people from a workshop will come to you, if they cannot sell you a new tyre.....I would not do that as well.

I'm keen to start changing tires myself- especially handy at BIRA where the track wears tires so unevenly.

Funny vid... The bead breaker and 3rd tire iron are completely unnecessary. "Rim protectors" are easily fashioned from any sturdy plastic- I like to cut up used oil containers.

Anyone know where I can get a decent set of tire irons in Bangkok? I imagine DirtShop ought to have some.
