Strolling Along Lipa Noi Beach This Afternoon

Featured Replies

This is oil that i picked up walking along Lipa Noi between the boat ramp before Nikki Beach and no further that Lovely Lipa Resort. I had no idea, until I left the beach and moved on round to Taling Ngam beach that my feet were covered in it.

I didn't see it in the water or on the beach, there was a light north easterly breeze, shallows a little choppy and the sand in the shallows just seemed a little churned up by current. I've a keen eye and am taking notice of conditions, this was not physically visible until later.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Occasionally have come across globules of oil/tar in the Choeng Mon area, and always assumed they were something tossed overboard from a local boat?

oh.... sh--t e!!!!

Now we know why they don't want oil drilling around the islands...... wink.png

Happens occasionally on the beaches around the island. Seen it mostly after stormy days.

Absolutely nothing to do with oil drilling.

It's oil/grease from fishing boats.

I picked up some oil on my feet and hands at Lipa beach a week ago while coming out of the water, just like the pics, never saw it coming. I believe the oil was in the water

Yes .... I know that I am not a total idiot bah.gif

Queen Elizabeth ...bah....

It has to be ''residue'' picked up from one of those Nikki Beach parties. From what I have heard most people attending are ''well oiled'' by the end of the night laugh.png

Could be 1 of many factors: 1) Bangkok airways? 2) Chaweng Jetskis 3) the new jetlev water flyer 4) Most likely is that it was the black flipflops you were wearing had melted in this heat.
