Australian Rules Football For The Aussies In Thai

Adam Simpson has signed a three-year deal to become the new coach of the West Coast Eagles.

The West Coast job was vacated by premiership-winning coach John Worsfold in early September and the list of applicants was initially 14 names long.

As Simpson was a deputy under Alastair Clarkson at Hawthorn, West Coast was forced to wait until Hawthorn finished its 2013 campaign to name its new senior coach.

Well I'm a happy chappy at the minute.

I was hoping Simpson would get it. IMO, Sumich would've been a disaster.

Pity it wasn't a bit earlier. Will be interesting to see if WC do much at today's

trade talks.

Sumich was on the Brad Hardie radio show whinging about missing out.

After failing in 3 attempts at a senior coaching job says he may not apply for all vacancies in the future.

With you Will, he would have been a disaster.

There was some talk this morning about Jack Darling being traded?

Hadn't heard that, wouldn't miss him, he's a very hot and cold player.

A real passenger at times. Might do better elsewhere.

You're killing me BookMan. Are you sure you're not winding me up?

First Nic Nat, now Darling.

There were rumours that Gaff and Shuey are on the trade table for Melbourne's

2nd draft pick. I wouldn't trade Shuey as he's our only midfielder with any pace.

I can't agree with you there Old Croc.

True, he has been up and down a bit this year, but he's just turned 21.

Still, kicked 42 goals in a crap side this year following on from 53 last year.

Freo would love to have him to help out the big Pavlova.

No, it was a genuine question.

They brought up his name twice on AFL trade radio regarding a trade with some club. I meant to take notice at the time but I was busy.

Thought one of you guys might have heard something

Mate, I'd be devastated if he was in the gun.

A 21 year old who has kicked 98 goals in his last 2 seasons playing as a key forward.

He has a lot of upside. IMO, the Eagles need midfield speed. Kerr is on his last legs

and Priddis nor Wellingham are quick.

I read through the AFL trade day stuff and couldn't see any reference to it. Maybe they were just doing hypotheticals

Ahhh yes I know the scenario well, Neeld was a hot assistant from a premiership club, so much for white hot Sumich.

Seems to be a formula in hiring head coaches....whistling.gif

Well unless you get an ex-coach like Chocco Williams, you have to get them from the assistant coaching pool.

True, being an assistant at a successful club doesn't guarantee success, but it doesn't hurt.

At the end of the day, it's a lottery. I remember David Parkin being asked about whether John Worsfold

would make a good head coach when he was his assistant at Carlton. Parko replied "John has all of the

attributes for a good coach but you can never tell until someone's actually doing the job".

Having a good structure and playing list doesn't hurt either. Chris Scott goes to Geelong and has instant success.

It would've been really hard for any inexperienced coach to to Melbourne, with their list, culture and 2 clowns

like Scwabb and Connolly in charge.

I think Connolly is still the (suspended) football manager. If he is, what a disgrace.

No Connolly who was on a years leave (hehehe) due to his involvement with that little ruckus last year was officially delisted when the new broom swept through the long room a few months back.

Cameron S was the devil at Deeland, he got sacked once, being close to Stynes and co they brought him back so he went about setting himself up as CO for life, trouble was (once credited as being a top CO) his appointments dragged the club into the MCG turf and the BIG honcho's at Docklands came in with an offer the Dees couldn't refuse.

Connolly had been a highly respected footballer and earmarked as a future captain when a knee injury cut is football life very short, he, Cameron S, Stynes and Lyon etc were all there as young guys from around the mid 87 that who took us into a nice period were we played finals ( the Dees were elimination finals specialists, could never Finnish above 4th and for years).

I don't buy going for top assistants, seems were one of the few codes that do that, this thing is fairly new to aussie rules, even Kennedy a through and through Hawk coached North. Whats wrong with Eade? he was my choice failing getting Roos? and im still not so sure Roo's would be better, but they know better than me at AFL house.

Have read the paper from my iphone but with fading eyesight.... anyway they capped 30 free views per month online...

30 views online also for free with the Sydney Morning Herald. Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph even less for free..

Just clear your browsing history and you can start the 30 all over again w00t.gif ...as many times a month you want to

I haven't bought a physical newspaper for a few years now

Thanks for the tip mr BM i will try it, prefer to read a real paper but its getting ridiculous, as the paper shrinks the cost of it goes upblink.png

And how come when i use my ipad to check in it shows an extra 20 or so pages to a topic like this compared to a pc?

yes i view from an app on ipad

Yeah, Im pretty sure the app has a different default for the amount of postings per page, so the amount of pages will always be different

100 postings @ 10 postings per page = 10 pages

100 postings @ 15 postings per pages = 6.5 pages

My setting.. 100 postings at 50 postings per page = 2 pages

Listened to the same broadcast and yes he name did come up a couple times as potential trade bait. Then I listened to Terry Wheeler an hour or so later who was saying that Adam Simpson wants him as part of his package and plan.

Do you remember which club they were suggesting he might go to? Richmond? Collingwood? Melbourne?

Melbourne was the club mentioned. There was Darling and another eagle who's name slips me at the moment as part of a package.

Eddie McGuire and his council had a meeting with Nick Riewoldt today, I assume to discuss luring him to the pies.

Inside info again?

The boy can talk, good idea to get a handle on his worth next contract, if true there is not a smouldering fire at the Saints, its a full on ash Wednesday...

Time to get with the Victory chooka, there a club that wont disappoint.rolleyes.gif

I'll Stick with football and the Saints. Can't stand soccer, it is boring and puts me to sleep the knitting championships have more action, excitement and physical contact than soccer and I'll never be converted from my beloved Saints. We have a flesh wound at the moment and will recover. Needs a bit more than a band aid but will recover

Learn the rules chooka soccer and The Victory can tide you over until the Saints are on the up again, I should know, following that hapless lot all my life, even had the Hawks as my second team there for a long while...thumbsup.gif

At least in soccer the skulduggery is expected and so is constant player movement, I find it interesting how a new coach and 4 or 5 players can turn a club from has beens to champions over night, hey if I move to CM in a few years we can start a hybrid footy league, indoors of course, we can teach the gfs how to play footy/soccer with full body contact hehehe...

Buddy brand set to go national: Celeb agent

THE SYDNEY Swans' $10 million deal for Buddy Franklin is an absolute bargain for an athlete who could soon become Australia's answer to Michael Jordan or David Beckham.

That's the opinion of celebrity manager Max Markson, who believes the Swans have pulled off some outstanding business by their bold bid to lure Franklin to the harbour city.

The Swans' nine-year, $10 million offer for Franklin, which was revealed this week and is yet to be signed off by League officials, shocked the AFL world.

But Markson, who counts Kostya Tszyu, Mark Bosnich and former formula one world champion Alan Jones among his clients, believes it is a steal.

"I would've thought he's cheap at twice that price," Markson told AFL.com.au.

"They're not just getting a player. They're getting so much more.

Max Markson can seriously go f*** himself... The guys the biggest muppet and clown in town when it comes to agents... Clearly after a sound bite on this one and thank f*** this c*** is not a sanctioned player agent!

Kostya Tszyu is his only decent horse - is Kostya even in the country anymore? I thought he went back to Russia/Ukraine? F*** look at Bosnich another f***en muppet who f***ed his career up his arm... Alan Jones, yes, Australia's only formula one world champ and a legend but isn't really doing too much these days.

Australia's answer to Jordan or Beckham - errrr... <deleted>? I'll hazard a guess that either Bogout (NBA) or Webber (F1) are earning a lot more than Buddy will ever earn!
