If you know what this text is about please reply????

I read Thai and nothing about blood work in Thai.

I also have seen the labor doc and nothing is said about a blood test.

the point is this (and anyone can google translate) the more accurate translation would be if you know your information please reply.

for an application in THIS province, you need a blood test. There is no argument to be had. This is a Koh Samui forum so you are misleading others. I have the book in front of me and a specialist sitting beside me.

You talk about misleading info in bars and in forums and you are doing the same.

your information is incorrect and could cause issues for someone applying for a WP in Surrat. So please check your info before pontificating.

George and Poor Sucker, your docs are quacks. Go to another hospital! I have had the physicals done at Bumrungrad, Viphavidi-Rangsit and actually one done while on holiday at Samui International Hospital. My holiday was taken around the time I had to have my WP renewed.

Not the doctor, my lawyer was refused when doing my renewal at labour office, had to go and draw blood.

In Bangkok it's a Labour department requirement with blood test, your miles may vary in other provinces.

Pure silliness. The docs say nothing about a blood test and the doctor just signs off that the person does not have Syphilis.

As asked before what labour office are you talking about?

"If you know what this text is about please reply" is all that is posted in Thai.....

so please anyone trying for a W/P in this province please get the relevant blood test, it will save a lot of aggravation.

I suppose if someone told you that you had to have a proctological exam you would just go for it?

I am wondering how long you have lived her for and if you have worked for any major companies here.In all my years of working here and never had a blood test. Nor did any of my farang staff..

Pat it isn't worth arguing with you. My credentials are not in question. The information you are posting is just wrong, why don't you get on another post which won't mislead other people. Try the buying a bar thread, your comments would be more up to date and relevant for that one.

I guess that you are in a different province, with different rules, which is why your info is wrong, did you notice this is the KOH SAMUI forum. or maybe the stage three wasn't picked up with your non blood test.?giggle.gif

7 years with WP on Samui, never did blood-test until last year when the new labour office boss required it.

How would he know. Did he go with you to the hospital?

he is the one who approves the paperwork, the doctors opinion is not relevant.

I am have been living in Korat since we built our new home. I am not applying for a WP up here as I am not going to work any more!

which begs the question

why are you on a Koh Samui Forum giving advice about Work permits?

I can confirm that where I work, which includes Work Permits that are processed at the Samut Prakarn and Bangkok offices, a blood test for syphilis is required for people making their initial application for a WP. None of our employees have been required to get a medical or blood test for the renewal of a Work Permit.

In my experience, you need whatever the officer decides you need, or the WP isn't issued.

Yes, your misinformation that a blood test is required is wrong and causing trouble.

Please note that requirements vary from province to province but we have members reporting that they DID need a blood test for a work permit renewal while others have not. So please drop the aggressive attitude regarding this and check with your Work Permit office before applying. Cheers

To follow on sbk's post. Getting a WP for nearly 20 years and the last few years no medical certificate has been required at labor. However, at the same time that others have reported it this year they did require one and not the 50 baht special either. That they refused and handed me the notice that spelled out specifically what was required and included an actual blood test against syphilis.

A scanned copy of that requirement has been posted recently on TV. The syphilis check has always been there but they are now enforcing it via proof by blood test. This is in Chiang Mai.

The Thai visa is a forum where advice is given and should be contextual and accurate. The posts from one member on this thread have been neither. This is the Koh Samui Forum and for THIS province a blood test is required currently. The variations from province to province do not matter if you are posting on a Koh Samui forum.

And to be fair, and I am sure all would agree, why not make sure all paperwork required is submitted, regardeless of province, since it is a requirement under statute, whether it is enforced or not.

since it is a requirement under statute

It is not a requirement. FYI, I spoke with a Thai friend that works at the labor department. He said that it is nationwide form that is used for the physical and it does not require any blood draw for Syphilis. You can keep on saying it all you want, but that does not make your delusional blood draw requirement a reality.

I am done with this thread, so get back to posting your incorrect information in the posts following this one.

In the scheme of things it is not important Pat, I just don't want people in Surat province to waste their time with the wrong paperwork.

At this moment your advice will result in them being sent away for a blood test.

Glad to hear you are done with the thread, and I will continue to post information pertinent to this forum, to the best available and current information. Not sitting in an ivory tower in another province wishing I was in Samui. giggle.gif
