lol yeah.

On a more serious note though, I think their fans are going to need some serious reality checks soon. As it stands now the 'big 4' are now utd, city, arsenal and chelsea, yes I still count chelsea as a top 4 team regardless of where they finished in this one slip up year. After that you have spurs in the pecking order and the new dark horse team newcastle, bar some miracle of a massive team and management overhaul in the summer and all new players instantly clicking together plus current ones having a sudden change in form I cannot see Liverpool coming anywhere near those above teams. If they are lucky they will be challenging for 6th place at best and even then I think they are going to have to rely on a team such as spurs or newcastle to screw up and have a loss of form.

This season has been an utter shambles for them and if any other manager apart from 'king' kenny had been in charge he would have been strung up by now. The fans treatment of Hodgson was disgusting in the last season and their form this year shows that he wasnt to blame and that the team is a mess, I will love it if he has a good run with in England this summer as it will shut them all right up. Some of their fans think winning the league cup is some kind of achievement, wake up guys it aint, most of the 'big' clubs put out their reserve or youth team from the very start, they barely even won it anyway just scraping it on penalties.....against Cardiff!!

I need to point out that I am a neutral fan whose team is not even in the PL and I dont like seeing LFC like this, I dont think its good for football and especially English football as so many of their poor and average players are English but Liverpool need to have a long, LONG hard think about where they are now and what they can realistically achieve in the next few years and also they need to drop some of the messiah s**t and going on about their history etc....

An excellent post.

I just hope and pray they rally around Krap Kenny and don't bin him in the summer. He's the best manager Everton ever had.....w00t.gif

Except for the fact that theres no such thing as the big four antmore and hasn't been for a couple of years already.

From the Daily Telegraph.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/9264821/Kenny-Dalglish-flies-to-Boston-for-talks-over-his-Liverpool-future-with-FSG.html

I think soon there may be some more Yanks for them all to end their love affair with and to hate with a vengeance for the rest of their lives instead.

'It's Our Club. How dare they sack King Kenny (he'll be moved upstairs), and how dare they run Our Club on business lines and not stupid sentiment, out of love for the Liverpool Way"

Whoever they bring in I reckon they will never again challenge for the title, without about 5 new super-expensive players coming in and a root and branch reform.

And then they may only be scrapping for third to fifth places wth Everton, Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs.

True, you could say it's a big 5 or 6 then? I suppos not so easy to label teams these days but it all makes it much harder for a team like Liverpool where once a top 4 spot was expected....

A serious question to Liverpool fans here, and I'm not looking to troll or anything.

What do you want to happen or think will happen come say November and December in the 12/13 season and you are not in the top 6? What then? This is based on KD still being manager.

Thats my point really. Its much more competitive than it used to be when those four slugged it out.

I reckon you'll see the same top four finishers this season challenging next year with Liverpool probably joining in. I'd be disappointed if Kenny Dalglish wasn't given till atleast christmas to improve their league results. They have the bonus of Carroll starting to look the part and Lucas back. I'd expect them to buy a couple too. Chelsea will strengthen too so its going to be very tough up there.

Always going to be difficult to assess how Everton and the barcodes will do because without spending they will always have to over achieve.

Good article from the UK Daily Telegraph, suggesting there is no easy or happy solution to this, and including the following:

Henry and Werner are troubled by Liverpool’s failure to mount a serious challenge for the Champions League places and are establishing the best way to ensure there is no repeat next season. They have been assessing if their vision for Liverpool can be realised under Dalglish’s leadership.

The owners are disillusioned with the inconsistency of performances and intolerant of suggestions that bad luck was the main cause of Liverpool’s failure to challenge the top four.

I wonder if they panicked. Look at the manager turnover now - it's like Chelsea were (and still are?).

It suggests the Yanks are going to spend heavily though - but they didn't want to give it to KK.

Not much (informed) Liverpool fan reaction around is there?

I think it would be disastrous to bring Benitez back. They need a fresh face.

Agreed got sick of looking at that rat face Dalglish, bring in a young handsome manager like AVB.

Well this thread is topical if anything else today,Rodgers has started his reign worse than Hodgson and Dalglish.

The terrible mis-management of the striking situation either from the board or Rodgers has really put Liverpool under pressure now and the owners have the audacity to come out with statements that it is critical to qualify for the champions League this season!

The way Liverpool played today is exactly the same as they have played for a couple of seasons now and it was glaringly obvious that a striker to score goals is needed to support the lonesome Suarez, the management and board have yet again made decisions that are in no way helpful for them to attain a top half place let alone top four.

Rodgers must be furious with this and is also to blame letting Carroll go without a replacement.

Posted

It was a woeful performance and I really think without Suarez they'd be relegation candidates. I don't buy they were the better team stuff either.

Last season it was great to take the p*ss, with all that 'Liverpool Way", "Our History" and 'King Kenny" nonsense going around, as Liverpool fans refused to accept their true new position as Premier League Journeymen, but this season, they really are in trouble and I am laughing less - so long as Everton finish above them, I wish them well.

But a new thread is needed - they are NOT declining to decline, they have embraced it from the owners down.

Sharecropper they are declining to decline as there avoidance to post about it on this thread demonstrates.

Rodgers is a nice guy,so was Hodgson!

No team is too good to go down, and with a woeful strike force they are going to struggle. Is Suarez gets injured what then? I can't believe that injured dwarf Owen is now being linked, it really shows how far Liverpool have slipped. Seems like the Yanks have really shown what they stand for, shame for the Liverpool fans to get shafted again after the Hicks Gillet sham.

I've heard Anelka and Drogba are being discussed as well....

Anelka, Drogba, Owen - it's ironic that having been so tight with the cash in the transfer window, they are now about to be effed by some of the most cynical moneymakers in the business!

Utd's current midfield ain't much younger

That lot were strikers carms....didn't you have a Panini album then? :D

in all honesty i would hate to see liverpool go down,i know they wont but enjoy our rivalry and look forward to the red war day as thais put it,even though i am on edge before and during the game.

They won't go down. They just had a tough start to the season in terms of fixture list so it was always a possibility. Some operational issues at the club have meant that we are without a recognise out and out striker but I have faith in Rogers and it's the perfect opportunity to blood in some of the youngsters. We have a good set of young players with Allen already settled and the likes of Sterling starting to make his mark.

I think most fans were expecting FSG to go out and throw money at the team again but I think they can thank Kenny and Comoli for that. Once bitten twice shy.

People forget that we were close to administration before they came in. At the end of it suffering for a few years in order to reach a sustainable model will be worth it. As Shanks once said LFC exists to win, but I don't think even he could have envisaged the levels of greed our previous owners exhibited.

We struggle on.

Theres some pretty big conclusions being drawn after only three games! whistling.gif Apart from needing a striker Liverpool don't look too bad.
