not available because of geographical restrictions, thanks for nothing.

Downloaded fine for me, as do all Amazon books, and I'm in Thailand.

Thanks for posting the info!

Looks interesting, but no way to download it. And I'm sure as hell not gonna sit at my monitor to read the whole thing.

They want me to register a Kindle, which I don't have, nor want. I've got a different kind of eReader.

I downloaded it in Thailand.

I checked with Amazon. They said there is no geographical restriction for Thailand. Try Amazon Live Chat for help:

Thanks for the advice.

Just contacted them by live chat and they asked me to make a international call to the US to solve the problem.Sure.I'm gonna do that.

Seems one big bunch of wanke_rs,Amazon that is.

Finally got it downloaded, thanks for the link.Guess Amazon could be a little more informative and helpfull.

The reason why they refused to help me online was that they asked for my billing address to identify myself, where I by mistake had entered Moo 4 instead of Moo 9,but all other details were correct still they refused to recognize me.

Thx, got it with a Kindle app on my Android.

I found Amazon very helpful. They invited me by email to call them but I opted for the Live Chat as Thailand is not covered by their free international call system. There was someone to chat with me in a minute or two. For a big organization that's not bad. I had another issue with them over postage and delivery. Worth a separate post.

How do they know your billing address was wrong? I just made one up and it was accepted and I downloaded with no problem.

When I went on the live chat with them, they wanted for some reason to verify that I was the person who I said I was and they asked me to enter my billing address.I entered the correct details, including Moo 9,after which she said they had different information so I went to my account and saw I had by mistake entered Moo 4 when I registered.

I informed the lady at the other side that it was a mistake and it should be 9 instead of 4,but she refused to help me further and instructed me to make an international call if I needed anymore help.

You all know how extended a Thai address detail is,so making an issue about one digit being wrong is a bit childish in my opinion.

It appears to be a free book when you purchase a kindle gadget?

Another con and this thread seems a bit suspect.

Don`t bother I`m not interested.

Me either. You'd have to pay me to read any more of such dribble.

Such a bargain?

So I can get free books for 2000 baht.

Sounds like typical Thai logic to me.

No, sorry, still not interested and it also appears no one else is convinced either.

Come on guys. You don't need a Kindle to download and read Amazon Kindle books. Any Apple device, android tablet or windows machine will do it. If you're posting on ThaiVisa, you must have one of those. Thank you to the original poster.

Read my first reply and reply just above this one.

No it's a free book with free readers available for most platforms.

Cheers!

Just downloaded onto my Kindle....one of my many favourite toys, will never purchase another paperback. I take it almost everywhere I go.

Not a con at all, you can downlaod a free Kindle app from Amazon to run on your PC or 'phone.

So free book and free reader (including 3 free books).

Seems like your understanding is the only thing suspect.

Just in case anybody else wants to do this who does not already have a reader -

1 - Go to Amazon site and download Kindle reader for whatever device you want it on

2- register in the pop up boxes - easy if you already have an Amazon account and about two minutes longer if, like me, you have one but not used for so long you cannot remember your password but do know what email address you used. No account - just create one.

3 - open reader and search for book and buy it - price is given as 0.00. It downloaded for me very quickly.

Initially when I went to the link it said the offer was not available in Asia but that was before I downloaded the reader. I also changed my region to UK even though I am actually in China and there was no issue. Should be no need to go to customer support etc.

Should take no more than 5-10 minutes max.

Absolutely. I would tell them.

Many thanks, topt.

Now that was really helpful. I don't have a Kindle but can convert using Calibre, so I just wanted access to the book itself, and couldn't figure out how to do it on Amazon's website. Now that I've downloaded and installed the Kindle Reader (not that I'll use if for much), I can get the book and read it on my ePub eReader.

Many thanks for the clear instructions. clap2.gif

[Edit] Spoke too soon. Seems there's some DRM on it, and won't convert. I'll mess about a bit and see what I can do.

Yup, looks like a special program works wonders.

As it was a free download, perhaps the mods will permit these links for others?

If not, just delete the post. Sorry.
