Stainless Steel Screws.

Featured Replies

Hi Gents,

I have hunted high and low in local hardware stores and larger well known branded nation-wide stores but cant find anywhere that sells stainless steel screws.

Self tapping stainless steel screws is what I am actually after but normal type will suffice if they are not available.

Do any of you know where I can purchase stainless steel screws in Bangkok?

best regards,

I buy stainless bolts and small machine screws at a hardware shop very close to the Department of Land Transportation, on Paholyothin Rd., at the corner of the road adjacent to the DLT. It's just past the cross street, on the left side as you walk S. from DLT. Get off the BTS at Chatuchak, and walk toward Saphan Kwai on the left side of Paholyothin.. There is only the one cross street.

They have a good selection of stainless hardware. If they don't have the screws you need, there are many motorcycle accessory shops further down the same side of the road, but past the khlong. These shops have a lot of accessory-type stuff, including dress-up hardware, and probably have stainless screws as well.

I'm surprised to hear that Home Pro didn't have any...

Another alternative is Worajak in the Chinatown area, but you'll have to search stall by stall. Try the actual Worajak market, or the Worajak Building around the corner on Luang Rd.

Most stuff exists, but as the above poster implied, it's sometimes easier just to order what you want from abroad. Personally, I LIKE exploring those areas, and marveling at all the stuff I can find, but I have the time to do it...

I used to send my technicians to Ban Mo to get a resistor or other electronic part, and chafed at the fact that it took half a day to get it done, but that's the way things work here.

I may just publish Chancy Nandler's map of Bangkok - Men's edition. I'm sure it would sell 10 copies or so...

Good luck.

Hi Buddy,

I found stainless self tapping screws in Chinatown at a shop on the corner of Yaowarat and Maha Chak. Large shop specialising in nuts bolts screws washers etc in plain, galvanized and stainless. I dealt with Anne - good English.

Indeed.

Here is the website for one of those shops that stocks a wide variety of stainless products.

A marine supply store will certainly have them. Here on Phuket there is a jammed-to-rafters little hardware shop in center of town that stocks a huge range of SS screws, nuts, bolts, turnbuckles, cable, chain etc, even anchors. Love to go there, a cheerful shoplady will dive into the back and quickly procure almost anything I need. Prices are good because these are invariably Chinese made, as indeed are almost all the SS fasteners you will find in America, Europe, etc.

Toyota Dealer Parts Department, but the mom and pop places sound like a great place to start.

That's a fine idea, put me down for the first copy!

A shop specializing in nuts, bolts, screws is on Rama 4. I can't give exact location but it is between Tesco and Klong Toey market. Near a Honda dealer I recall.

They may have what you need?

Sounds really interesting. Could you be more specific on where the Worajak Market is in reference to the BTS or a bus route? I'd love to go there and nose around. Is it open all days or only weekends?
