Yesterday I went to the House movie theater at RCA for the first time.

I didn't know about it before and I happy to report they actual show good movies.

Last night I saw Shower, a chinese film about a public bath and its function as a social gathering spot that is now ending as development is putting it out of business.

(ok my description is weak just go to movieseer and read the offical blurb)

Most of what comes out of hollywood now is such poor crap, it seems that the last 2 years have been worse than usual. It used to be that one would see previews for a movie and they looked good but the movie turned out not to be. Now not even the previews look good! They can't even put out 60 seconds or less of a film that looks interesting.

Are there other places in Thailand that show good films that are not your standard god awful Hollywood (or many Thai films) garbage?

I'm in total agreement with you: Hollywood cinema is no longer worth the chance that it might be good- because it usuallly isn't. Instead, I try to see most of the Japanese and Korean films that come to the city and am finding that a lot more rewarding.

I'm a big House Cinema fan as well. Did you know they have their own website? They do, here:

Houserama If you like the movies at House you'll like what plays at Lido and Scala at Siam Square [as well, the third theatre there but I can't think of the name]. They also have a web site: Apex Siam

And you're right, too, Movieseer is worth knowing just to keep tabs on what's showing around town [and whose got which sub-titles to go with it :o ] Might as well plug that URL, too:

Movieseer :D

C u at the movies.... :D

This is an excellent film. I saw it in Wellington about five years ago and loved it. Great story with occasional funny subtitle goofs. Highly reccomend this one.
