Blackouts In Udon Thani

Featured Replies

My wife's family live in Non Sa-at, which is located just north of the border between Udon Thani and Khon Kaen. The last two nights about 8pm, we have had a blackout for about half hour. Last night we were told there was an accident, but someone mentioned it was some big wig has decided to implement his own "earth saving" strategy, and shut all power down for half hour for a week or so.

Turns out, there is some truth to it, since the power has just gone out (and back on a short while ago) for the second night running. So now we're expecting it to run all week.

I've searched for earth hour related topics, and googled blackouts Thailand and the like, but have come p empty handed.

I don't know if it is just this ampher or a section of the province or what.

Does anyone else have any ideas what's really going on? Not that I disbelieve the big wig story, actually, I quite believe it. I'd just like to try and get my facts right

Been some big thunder storms around Meuang Udon itself these past 48-hours that have caused partial blackouts in the city. I would tend to believe that a poorly balanced grid from our friends at EGAT is probably wreaking havoc in the more remote locations with power surges and tripping when power gets redirected on a poorly maintained system.
