Hi,

My friend from Ubon told me it was a nice place to live.

Can I buy 4 or 5 Rai of land a bit outside the City for 150,000 per rai maximum?

I want to make my own house in a quiet area.

Thank you for your help...

Joe

Anything is possible but I doubt it. Land prices in Ubon have gone through the roof recently. Within 30 minutes of the city I would say no. For that sort of price you would need to look much further afield.

Have to agree with Memock prices have gone through the roof. Plus you are looking for land zoned for housing, not rice or farm land. Step carefully before you spend money and never believe when a Thai says no problem, that means there is a problem. Jim

You mentioned finding a place 25 minutes drive out of town in your other topic. You might find something that far out in your price range but you might have to cut back to maybe 3 rai on the outskirts of a village.

You and the wife should make a trip here and check things out for a few days. I think you will both will like it.

Hi,

Near the city you will pay more than 1 million per rai, but outside the ring road you can get from 50,000 per rai depending on road access, electricity, etc. You can use rice land but you might have to raise it first with trucked in earth, the cost of which should be taken into consideration.

Cheers,

Mike

Contrary to popular belief you need planning permission to build a house anywhere. Now I know some of you have build here and there without approval, but no permission and the house can be bulldozer at the whim of the powers that be. The closer to a city the more careful you have to be. If land is framing you have to get the usage changed for housing. OP get a good lawyer first, buying land is a mine field. Jim
