There were 7 members in the Aussie IQ club.

With all the members now going their own way, the wiz bang money manager, Peter,

decided to call it a day and asked the other 6 members to come to his office, which

just happened to be in Canberra.

When all were seated, Peter told them that he was folding the club and that any money

in the bank would be devided evenly between then.

Now there is $28 in the account and between the 7 they would all receive $13.

These 6 guys could not believe their luck as this was totally different to their calculations

from what they had learnt at school, but who were they to question his maths.

Seeing that these 6 members did note understand his calculations ,Peter explained.

If you devide 28 by 7 ( 7 into 8 goes 1 and carry the 1. 7 into 21 goes 3.) Answer 13

Still not sure these 6 members could understand, he explained it this way.

Multiply 13 by 7 ( 7 x 3 is 21. Put down the 2 and carry the 1. 7 x 1 is 7 + 1 = 8 ) Answer 28

But with the 6 still confused Peter did some more calculations

He now adds 13 seven times. so here we go

Up the right side (3 6 9 12 15 18 21 then down the left side 22 23 24 25 26 27 28) Answer 28

So all you good Aussies can now understand why our government has no money when we have people in

the Treasury department with these mathematical skills.
