A friend of mine from Canada brought paper money to Bangkok and ran into some problems exhanging it, The Bank of Canada introduced polymer money earlier this year $100 & $50 and now the $20 bill is being introduced. SuperRich accepted the paper notes but only after a debate, a few of the banks refused outright on Soi 11.

Guess it's time for those who are holding paper currency to cash it in or convert it to another foreign currency.

I was just teasing. I lived in Vermont just south of the border for a while. Canada is a beautiful country.

And the OP actually provided a good update for Canadians looking to travel to Thailand.

Bring American money, easy to get in Canada and easy to exchange here in Thailand.

The point to the post is for Canadian expats living in Thailand who may be holding onto some paper money and didn't know the currency had changed, my mate had 50% polymer and 50% paper from an ATM and didn't think it would be an issue. There is no need to convert to US and get hit twice on currency conversion, the CDN dollar is widely accepted in Thailand as long as it is polymer.

I brought some of the newer Canadian bank notes into Thailand and I have had no trouble at all exchanging it at a Bangkok Bank Branch in Chiang Mai.
