UbonOz Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I have a fridge which has started to get warmer which is not very useful in this climate, luckily I have two fridges. Does anyone know of a good repair guy locally that does house calls. Thanks for any replies.
MeMock Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 John at Peppers has people come around to his shop to do work on his fridges from time to time. Ask him for a number and call and find out if they do house calls as well.

MeMock Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 After reading your comments on the kebab thread I was just wondering if you would know of the other places in Ubon that foreigners tend to gather from time to time. Peppers is a great cafe/bakery/restaurant on Uppalisan Road. It is almost opposite the entrance to the Wing 21 air force base on the main road towards the airport. John is the owner and is very friendly and is a wealth of local information. Open from 8am, 7 days a week,

I am not really a party animal, but, there are a couple of places I know where farangs gather. One place is the Enjoy Bar, not sure exactly where it is, only been a couple of times. I will see if I can get directions and let you know. Another, is The View, have good live band. It is signposted on the left going north on the ring road before the last set of traffic lights when heading to Macro. There is another one on the main drag, I think just before Robinsons, on the opposite side of the road. Can't remember its name. They also have quite a good live band. Neither of the last two are worth going to until about 9-10pm. Sorry, I do not know the names of streets in Ubon, I just drive and then informed when to make turns. I normally only frequent these establishments when we have visitors, mostly I am a home bird.
MeMock Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 N Joy is on the prison road and has been around for quite sometime although under various management. The one opposite Robinsons is called Swing Party House. Peppers is just around the corner.
phibunmike Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 The other one you mentioned, 'The View' is just east of BigC on the ring road, on the north side (on the left going clockwise after turning right at the traffic lights after BigC when heading north up Chayangkun)
phibunmike Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Off topic I know, but you might also like to try TC Kitchen (next to Laithong Hotel). They have Kebab nights on Saturdays. Cheers, Mike

When we have visitors we move around a little and have a few beers, so it all becomes a little blurred as the evening progresses. I like "The View" they are always friendly and the music is good. 1

Cheers, Mike Yeh, going to try this Saturday, have some UK friends appearing. Then we will move on to another venue. There is another thread, in Isaan Forum mentioning the TC Kitchen, sounds interesting.

phibunmike Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 I recently found a good company providing service of "white goods" - fridges, aircons, washing machines, etc. They are a service centre for Toshiba, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, LG and others, with training certificates on their wall. I wanted a spare part (shelf) for my fridge and they showed me an exploded view of the fridge on their computer so that I could accurately identify the part. The are on Phadaeng Road, one block north of Wrong Way Cafe, and on the opposite side to WWC. They are directly opposite a prominent sign saying "Lux". The shop is easily identified by all the "Toshibe Service Centre" and similar signs.

Cheers, Mike I quite like those, though l think they should be called Fraheetas. (My spelling). I think that is "fajitas". You could be right, I don't really know the difference, but Lance's are like the Turkish döner kebab inasmuch as the meat is carved from a rotating spit in front of a fire.

I'm impressed that you bothered to find an umlaut for the o in doner Mike! For the record, for anyone else looking at this new to (or visiting) Ubon, with the places metioned above and the inclusion of Wrong Way Cafe (Phadaeng Road) and Baan Wine (new - I don't know the location but there's a live thread around) you've just about covered the mainstream falang bar/restaurant scene. There are other good Thai restaurants that falang use regularly and the usual collection of girlie places, designed for Thais but ..... I cannot continue - I got deleted and threatened by mods last time around!

People wonder why l don't mix with farangs.
sirchai Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 All fridges get warm and even warmer. It's a kind of coincidence.
MeMock Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 It is if you turn them off sirchai! Come on transam - spill the beans!
transam Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 It is if you turn them off sirchai! Come on transam - spill the beans! Noooooooo, might reveal who l am. 1
transam Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Might be useful. My 5 year old Samsung ''American'' style fridge freezer/ice maker packed up 2 days back. The control panel readout was up the wall too. Phoned their help line in Bangkok, they said lots of problems cos of the weather, hot. Hmmmm. Anyway, they said unplug it and leave for 8 hours. Pull away from the wall and don't in future have it butted up to anything. As it was afternoon l left it for 5 hours and plugged it in before l went to bed. In the morning it was working fine and still is. PS. It was never butted up to anything, but heat was the problem.
David Peters Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Wattana Air will fix fridges. They will come to your house. Their shop is just around the corner from Ubon Plaza on the road to the Tohsang hotel. On the left hand side is the shop where they fix and clean car air cons. On the right hand side is the house air-con place and they can fix fridges. Give them a ring on 045-255543. 1
