May 26, 201213 yr Hi, Saw the G-pad today (at a G-Net store in a Big C), but the seller could not tell me much about it, and she didn't have a show model. It looked good, judging by size/weight/spec: processor, OS, Android 4.x (Ice cream sand) etc. Price label said THB 5,900. Does anyone have any actual experience in using this device? I want to get a tablet to browse internet to read, e-mail, watch videos (of any type) (e.g. Youtube), maybe even movies. Work-wise I want to be able to open Word/Excel/PDF files. I'm not so much interested in playing games on it. Does anyone know if this tablet is good?? Or any other brand (other than Samsung/Apple) that you would recommend?? I've been to Panthip Plaza before, specifically looking for Chinese brands. Only found the Herotab, which I believe is from MID. Saw the sign for Aigo but didn't check it out. I've read other posts on here naming various brands for sale at Panthip, but when I was there (about 4 weeks ago), and asked around, I didn't find much. Only the Herotab. What I did get was that people I asked where tablets were for sale, (i.e. Thai sellers that were only selling phones) warned me that most of the stuff is fake on the second and ground floor. I saw the Herotab on the second floor. Any input appreciated!

May 26, 201213 yr Author @ThaiLife: thanks, I had already read through that topic, just wanted to see if I could get experiences from more people that have been using the G-Pad for a while. I understand that it is a Thai brand. Looking for reviews, whether it is good, has English language, compatible with any app. Thanks for your input!!

May 27, 201213 yr I have had my G-pad Extreme for about 2 months now. There has obviously been an update as mine is running Android 2.3. I am very happy with it and have had no problems at all. I initially bought it simply as an ebook reader but I find more and more I use it for email, browsing, music etc etc. I can stream videos from my PC and they run very smoothly. I paid 5000baht for mine which is an 8gb internal memory and with an additional 8gb SD card which was included in the price along with a soft case and a stand. I considered an iPad and a Galaxy Tab before buying this but found the 10 inch size too big to hold for comfortable reading. I have to say personally buying an iPad or a Galaxy at 18,000-20,000 baht would be a waste of my money. The G-pad does all I want and very compitently
May 27, 201213 yr Author @Thailife: thanks for the links!! Will check them out.......with Google Translate
May 27, 201213 yr Author @wjhall: thanks!! Would you say that Youtube vids load fast with wifi? How about downloading any kind of app? How about PDF? Word/Excel? I also feel I can do better than paying those amounts for an Apple or Samsung, although I wouldn't mind having a Samsung. Apple I don't care much for.

I bought mine at Tukcom Sriracha for the the same price as wjhall. It does everything I want, Flash videos running smoothly. I use it mainly as an Internet-radio or watching streams from my german TV-server. It has an USB host connector, so you can connect a keyboard or an usb "aircard" for mobile Internet. I tested it with an older Huawei E220 device and 12call Sim. Worked very well The device came with a lot of pre-installed Apps, incl. Flash and a Thai/Eng dictionary and some office programs. But there are much more apps (+100) in a folder on the SD-Card, which could be installed too. I also prefer the 4:3 screen aspect ratio above the 16:9 ones. All in all a very good device for the money. Would definitely buy it again. Next time, when I go to Chonburi, I will ask in their service station, if they can flash it with Android 4.0 ICS.

Thanks for the comment , so you just plugged in the Huawei E220 and it worked stright away on a 3G connection ? TL
May 30, 201213 yr Yepp, just plugged it in. Than activated "mobile networks" under settings. When you open "about phone", you can see, that the device is connected to 12call. From what I heard, the Gpad should support also the newer (UMTS) Huawei sticks. My E220 doesn't support the "Thai-Style" 3G, only Edge. But if you sit in a minibus, that's better than nothing

May 30, 201213 yr GPAD 8.0 Extreme I, but with Android 2.3.1 Gingerbread http://www.g-padtablet.com/2012/products.php?id=49
June 24, 201213 yr If anybody has this device with Android 2.3.1 or an older ICS and is interested.... I found a ICS 4.0.4 Firmware, (in a Dutch Android forum), ready to flash. Firmware is already rooted and comes with CWM 5.0x. Device works much better and smoother, than with 2.3.1.
