esbkk Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Hi there - Anyone knows where one could still get these old-fashioned razor blades? I tried many places in and around BKK without any success. Any help and or suggestion greatly appreciated. Eberhard
rak sa_ngop Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 I saw packets of Gillette razor blades in a small village shop in Issan near the Mekong river. I was surprised to read on the packets that they were made in Vietnam. Suggest you try small family shops catering for 'poor' people i.e. places where you can buy soap powder and shampoo etc. in small packets.
KHUNDAN Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Go to one of the many retail shops where the hair shops get their supplies from. You can buy the blades per box or by a case. Cheap also. Most barbers use them and can sell to you or tell you where to go. Hope this helps Dan
mamypoko Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Hi es~ My local Big C and Lotus (not express) usually carry the Gillette 5-pack for 55B. As I use them in a cheap flip top plastic shaver, I am always on the look out for good deals. Recently I found the same size pack contract manufactured for Gillette by a company in Russia. I purchased them at one of those "everything is 20B" type stores that come and go in front of Lotus. I've tried a wide range of brands, but these have turned out to be even better than the 55B packs for sharpness and durability. I'm at the beach now, but when I return to bkk, I'll PM you the brand and check availability...should I forget to do so and you are still interested, ping away at me and I'll do same.

Beauty supply shops sell these cheap in a variety of brands: Gillette, Feather, Dorco, Lord, Astra SS, Astra SP. Astra SP are great value and you can buy a box of 100 for about B150.
xen Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 I use the Gillette and the Dorco brands. Usually can find them ,as previously said, in the 20 baht stalls in places like the Big C foyers and also some of the smaller Thai supermarkets. Also you can buy the plastic flip razors with 5 blades for about 25 baht as the same places.
