I have no problem using an agency or going myself

Anyone know the cost and time frame ?

I know the China Embasy next to Kawasaki in the city but have not gotten much information from anyone

Thanks for your help

The embassy by Kawasaki is where you go. Hours are posted on the gate, I think. And there is a web site.

I downloaded the applications and filled them out only to be told they were the "old" form so I had to start over in the waiting room.

1000 baht for Thai's, About 4300 for Americans, 1100 for all others. Some terms depend on if this is your first visit to China.

All correct and takes 3 working days I believe.

There used to be an express visa for additional cost but not sure if they still do it.

Only open in the am.

Normally very efficient and helpful.

Last year I got my visa from the Chinese Consulate here in CM. I was able to get 6month because I had a Thai retirement visa. The 6 month visa was available with multiple entry of 30 days each or double entry of 90 days each.

OP, did you check their website? Did you go there or call and ask them? Their website says to contact the local consulate for specifics. Did you do any of this?

I will apply for a Chinese tourist visa with my Thai wife here in Chiang Mai.

Has anyone been asked to provide proof of marriage at the Chinese Chiang Mai consulate? Was wondering if we need to show a copy of our marriage certificate as she hasn't changed her name in her passport yet.

thanks.

Marriage should have no effect on China visa as they really don't care. You and your wife are two separate people applying for visas. My Thai gf got two visas to China last year on her own, no problem.

Off topic but

If only the States and Canada could be so progressive.
