Bills not aimed at getting Thaksin his money back: PM

Recommended Posts

"I had 86 billion baht worth of assets before I entered politics, but they stole 46 billion from me," Thaksin said.

Really? ermm.gif That's not what he said before. dry.png Not even remotely close. bah.gif

Thaksin is either lying now or he lied in 2001.

Which occurrence would he prefer to be prosecuted for?

the asset declarations of Thaksin and his then-wife Pojaman back in 2001 were Bt569 million and Bt9.96 billion, respectively.

http://www.thaivisa....s/#entry3372545

I think you are failing to take into account those assets held by his children, the maid, gardener, chauffeur, secretary, cook, window-washer, mechanic, their children and spouses, and 1001 other nominees.

Could this be the reason the money laundering bill has a much lower priority?

Very well, so he lied in 2001and chooses prosecution on that false asset declaration.

They should just make it clear that Thaksin will not receive his money back and whether or not he will benefit from this Reconciliation Bill just as PTP Samart suggested. The Democrats and PAD's main argument right now is about Thaksin so if it was made clear to the public that it will NOT benefit Thaksin then you've just taken the bullets out of the gun. IF the government is really doing this for the PEOPLE, that minor little set back for one man shouldn't be higher priority. Then again, we all know what this is all about or can someone prove me wrong about my observations using the bold sentence as a starting point.

One of the mainstays of democracy is equality under the law, which means that you can't write a law which specifies one person, or excludes them.

OTOH what gets right up Thaksin's nose is being treated like the common criminal he is. As a citizen of this country who has broken its laws, he should receive equal treatment as any other, and those who ignore his criminality, or anybody else's, because of their wealth or perceived status should be held accountable.

You will know democracy is REALLY coming toTthailand when Thaksin is led into court wearing orange overalls and shackles.

Would you believe anything that comes out of a Shinawatra mouth?

The PM doesn't know what is in the bills? Why is she PM if she doesn't know?

The bills will end conflict? If that is the case, why is there people apposing it so vigorously? And will conflict in South end too?

It really is quite inconceivable that Yingluck thinks it's okay to admit that she doesn't know what's in the bills, as she hasn't even seen them, and yet, at the same time, she can recommend that the people of Thailand blindly accept them. Can someone please tell her what a PM is supposed to do when assuming power....!?

Someone has been telling her what to do. Dad.

Thaksin Shinawatra, on the subject of Yingluck Shinawatra...

" I raised her like my eldest daughter. "

She described Thaksin as her “second father”

Does that mean that they will have to re-write these Bills to cover a wider time frame.

This right here is a perfect example of how corrupted this government is. She's either doesn't give a d*mn or lying so that she can shrug off the responsibility and accountability. This is the Prime Minister of Thailand ladies and gentleman, the very ones the Thai people vote for. Dishonesty and corruption can smack you in the face and you'd still believe it's the truth. Do you see where some of us get the idea that the Red Shirts are being so conveniently manipulated that they lack critical thinking skills? You can't put a spin or justify the PM's actions on this one unless you give a thumbs up to dishonesty.

Of course the bills are not intended to get back his money. The modifications are intended to better the lives of all Thais. I haven't read them, but I know that.

Yeah sure, I believe in Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus

Santa Claus just got elected to Parliament as a Pheu Thai Party MP yesterday.

No word yet on the Tooth Fairy.

you cant judge a politician by how much he steals, only by what he gives back, and as far as yingluck going public and assuring the people that her brother will not benefit from the bill is a wank, if the good old trustworthy dh aussie poli"s can at an election promise the country there will be no Gs bloody T then after getting elected well what do you know, we just have to have GST, then what chance do the thai people have.

Show me a politician who has never taken stolen or lied and I will bare my lily white arse, terrible animals they all are, so if you are going to condemn anyone, condemn the political system, politicians should all be held accountable for their actions the clever little mothers they are

You're right Bucholz but I'm sure they can word it somehow or set up certain criteria so that they exclude Thaksin. By exclusion I'm not merely proposing a straight forward clause but something that includes him... something along the lines of "fugitives."

"Bills not aimed at getting Thaksin his money back: PM" And if you believe that, I have a bridge I want to sell you.

Speaking of bridges, how is the Andaman Land Bridge project coming along that Yingluck promised Phuket voters in pre-election June 2011 that would create a land bridge between the Andaman and the Gulf of Thailand?

After 68 posts on this subject I must admit I was hoping for a few kind words from the good gentlemen of the defence, t.l., G.K. PhilW or PPD. Defending the indefensible.

As a non-Thaksin fan, it saddens me to see the Thai people being treated in this way.

If the party was P.T.P. (Party for the Thai People) then I could understand, but this PTP is simply running as Put Thaksin in Power.

Last summer, I was sorry to see Abhisit go, but the Dems deserved to lose and learn a lesson, and foolishly I hoped good things would follow with Yingluck's team, but in the ensuing period under P.M. Yingluck's Ms-management, what do we have?

Almost all election promises either broken or watered down. Still massive corruption financially and in moving chosen people in and out of jobs, not based on expertise or experience but just on who they know and how easily they toe the party line.

The Yellow shirts may not yet have assembled the kind of crowds that Jatuporn and Nattawut saw, but if push comes to shove, I can't see too many dead Yellows outside the gates of parliament without someone stepping in.

They have the right to assembly as did the Reds . They also have a right to prevent the business of parliament as did the reds prevent the business of parts of Bangkok.

BTW,

I'd love to know what Gen. Prayuth is thinking.

A small dab of white-out on the bill and an inked change to the date and they're good to go.

In other words no "Double Standards"

Red Shirt's understanding of "No Double Standards" is more or less on par with their understanding of "Democracy".

So much so that our usual trollers and husbands of red shirt ex-bar girls haven't dared say a peep..what is there to say? She hasn't even looked at the flippin' bill! Only knows that maybe she could keep the dirt money in the family.

But if the reconciliation process stops, how will the country go on?

The country was moving along OK before these reconciliation bills were tabled.

I love the last bit about him being away for 8 years etc. The ONLY thing stopping Thaksin from returning to Thailand is........Thaksin.

If they miss each other so much, why is it that they avoid contact while outside the country, to the point where one won't stay overnight when their sibling is arriving the next day?

Can anyone tell me what language she is talking in? It sounds like Scrabble - putting incoherent words together for maximum points.

I think she was speaking politicrap, - the dupilictous and diversionary outpouring of all politicians who try to defend the indefensible..... Politicrap is a very indistinct language, mostly due to the fact that speaker's tongue is so far up someone else's a**.

OTOH, she did make one valid point, as she advocated reducing the gulf between rich and poor.... 46 billion baht could make a nice dent in that, eh.???....but I am guessing her answer to that could be "Whatever" too.....

But with her comments on the video and her revelations that she has not seen the Reconciliation Bill she proves once and for all that Thailand has an Ineptocracy.
