Estrogel / Estradot / Climara Patches

Featured Replies

can someone tell me if these can be purchased in BOOTS or other pharmacies without a pescription ? Thank you.

Estradot brand is not sold in Thailand. Oestrogel and Climara can be gotten OTC with no prescription, also available (and I find easy/better to use) is a brand called Ginoderm. It is also a gel but comes in a dispenser that provides exactly the right amount. I have used all 3 and personally prefer the Ginoderm. It is wiorking better probably because of more exact diosing than was posisble with the oestrogel. (Climara = I have trouble keeping the patches on in this climate).

Whether you can get these at Boots is another matter, they may or may not have it, but can certainly get at any large pharmacy.

You can also get, without prescrioption, estriol for vaginal use. Brand name Ovestin or Gynoflor 9the Gynoflor is striol + lactobacillus to help maintain normal flora).

Now if you also need progesterone that is more of a challenge .There are no dermal preparations available in Thailand tho the anti-aging clinics often compund their own (at great cost). There is a vaginal gel, Crinone 8%. . Or you can get micronized oral form as brand name Utrogestan or vaginal/rectal suppositories brand name Cyclogest 400. Thrse too require no presecription but are harder to find than the estrogen.

Thank you Sheryl. I am from Australia.

Due to the WHI studies and scare, the doctors would freely prescribe progesterone and testosterone (compounded) but not estrogen, esp after 55 years old. It is frustrating.
