Fear Factor: Any Impact In Thailand From Batman "Movie Massacre" In America?

Fear is a funny thing. Rationality often has nothing to with it.

The "movie massacre" is reported internationally. In the U.S. there is already an impact. Some people have expressed fears about going to blockbuster movies and there is an increased security/police presence at some cinemas (according to reports).

Do you reckon there will any similar impact on the movie scene in Thailand?

Is this something you personally will think about when going to (or deciding not to go to) the movies in Thailand in the wake of the movie massacre?

Do you think there will be an (superficial of course as is the custom here) increase in visible security measures at Thai cinemas?

Personally, I avoid crowded nights at blockbusters anyway, so I tend to go to screenings with small crowds here. It won't change my habits at all. However, if I was the type that liked to go on big opening weekends of big blockbusters, I might think about this a little bit more (irrational or not).

I think Americans tend to over react to most events and this will be no different. Not from the US are you JT?

That incident was very unfortunate, but I don't think it will have any impact here. I saw the movie last light at Paragon in IMAX and it was sold out.

A lot of fans if the trilogy including me, have been waiting a long tine for this movie ever since it was announced. I'm sure it will still break records as fans don't want to live in fear because one of crazy guy.

Do you think I am overreacting? I just said I won't change anything myself.

I'm sure you'd agree jing that the vast majority of locals are completely unaware of this tragic event.

I don't agree. Thailand has mass media. Duh.

I don't think that most people equate the massacre with the movie. It was just another wacko looking for a large group of people to slaughter. In general, Thais mostly seem to avoid killing for no reason - although they are perfectly willing to do it if there is a reason - so there is little reason to worry about this sort of thing here.

And many Thai people would have to be interested enough to read, watch or listen to the mass media to glean the information given which from my observations over the years doesn;t seem that many See how many locals are aware of national events let alone international ones.

BTW Duh? Cheers for that. I can assure you if you want to throw out condescending insults you've chosen the wrong bloke to have a go at.

I suppose you could ask the same of school kids about a school masacre in another country and if they are worried about going to school the next day.

Unfortunately, we seem to be getting these nutters everywhere now but I don't think it will turn into a trend for their buddies to wait outside cinemas for one-upmanship.

Traxter has the right idea; wait for the DVD if it concerns you...............laugh.png
