Looking for info on shipping items from Thailand to USA

Various methods/costs vs weight/times/ legal forms etc.

I am sure this has been asked but my searches are turning up

poor info.

Can anyone summarize or point me to the info?

Initially it would be just some trial goods so not large quantities...just a mixed box of sample products.

Also as an aside...One item could be dried fruit which I imagine may be a bit more involved?

Any info/help much appreciated

Your question is so broad that it is impossible to summarize. Unless, that is, you want the answer to be the length of a book.

Please specify your question. Ideas are:

- How to register a Thai company with Thai customs.

- Modes of transport from Thailand to USA.

- Import regulations for certain goods to USA (may be out of the scope of this forum)

- Other specific questions. I think you know the answers to the above already, otherwise you wouldn't be playing with the idea.

Yes sorry for the broad question

At this time not looking to register a company but as I said a trial of a few goods.

Basically my sister back in the USA would like some sample products. Thinking that if they

are acceptable to her to sell there then she would want to do something in larger quantities.

But for now just sample products

Some of the things she is interested in are

ladies bags...Not designer types but more along the lines of hill tribe smaller sling/shoulder bags.

dried fruits...mango, salted plums/lemons etc

Other small goods like house slippers etc.

So to that end just a smaller box for now maybe 20 lbs tops.

But with a view to future sales if she should decide to go forward

the shipping costs on larger quantities have to be estimated before hand

Also rules/paper work etc.

Again sorry for the broad question.

Up to 20 kg. you can send a postparcel airmail or surface mail, more then that minimum a cubic meter up to a container, every forwarding, packing agent can help you with that.

I think that you better check very well, about foodstuf to the US

Thanks

That is basically what I thought as far as the smaller trial package no problem.

Yes on food stuff the FDA site has been helpful

Dried fruit should not pose a problem.

But of course packaging has to state certain info.

Thanks I guess I will check with an agent as to prices/weights on

larger amounts
