One big problem with health checks are that if you have one and it shows even the slightest indication of something the insurance here will consider it a pre existing condition and not cover it.

Another big problem with them in Thailand is that if anything shows up you can bet that the hospital will immediately try to pressure you into having treatment immediately with special offers etc to avoid you going elsewhere for a second opinion or checking the Internet to see just how serious the problem might be. Money number 1 here!

Even if you dont know it its still a pre existing condition. I mean if you got cancer for instance in a certain stage they know it happend before you took out the policy its pre existing even though you did not know it was there. So id rather know and start treatment early.

I would tend to agree with Dr McCartney.

Many of the Private providers of "health checks" will attempt to persuade clients to undergo many expensive investigations (some of which are invasive) or which expose a person to high levels of ionising radiation (64 slice or whole body CT scans)

Me ? I keep a check on my blood pressure and cholesterol levels.!
