Hello,

Can anyone recommend a good repair shop for cameras. I have a Nikon N70 (Asian model would be an F70.) Will not take a picture-flashes "F EE" in the viewfinder and on the control panel. I don't know if the camera was dropped.

Thanks,

From my days of using Nikon...

I don't think the camera is seeing the lens...

Clean the contacts on the body and all lenses...alchohol spray will do

See what happens then...

There's good camera shop in MBK whose name escapes me at the moment.. but it has been posted in the photography forum..

Good luck... :o

There is a camera repair shop on the corner of Sukumvit Soi 8 that I used a couple of times. Actually it's a couple of doors down toward Soi 6 but you should have no trouple finding it.

I am not familiar with this particular model, however, in another life I did a lot of photography and had to fix stuff sometimes.

Look for dents and dings for a sign that the camera had a bad knock, like dropping it on the floor! If you have a bad dent someone will have to take the camera apart and see if it can be fixed at all. If no dents or bad dings proceed.

First like the previous messages said CLEAN any electrical contacts! If you have a battery check those contacts and if you have a voltage meter see if it still has a good charge. Anything that you unplug, insert, snap together and has an electrical contact - clean that too! A little alcohol does work well in cleaning stuff. If the contacts where the battery snaps in are corroded - scrape the corrosion off.

If everything is attached and cleaned properly the next step is scary. Hold the camera securely in one hand and from about a 10 inch 12 inch distance - bang the camera into your other hand a couple times. Check to see if you fixed the problem.

This "thunking" process is a genuine check for cameras and televisions. It is in the repair manuals. Sometimes a camera repairman will take a camera into a back room, out of sight, and go through the "thunk" fix. If the camera works he charges you an arm and leg for his "specialized" repair equipment. If it still doesn't work he still gets the business from you anyway, only he really has to do some more work.

Give it a try! MBK and the Panthip Plaza have repairmen too!
