Science is just a cover.

USA needs Thailand to be able to spy on Southern China in a cost effective way; due to budget cuts.

Really. Do people really think this way. That is so stupid. Think of all the places US can already launch military from, but that even fails to consider US uses satellites that can see a pimple on your butt and US uses drones that can stay in the air for days. So yeah, US really needs to send NASA of all groups to Thailand of all places to spy with a U2 from the 50s. Come on man, think.

The art of thinking was never taught in Thai school.

NASA space technology was fake, they didn't put men on the moon ( http://en.wikipedia....piracy_theories ).

USA only use NASA as a front for they spy work, in the name of science.

Really? Is this a joke? I guess all those space shuttle launches were fake as are those detailed pictures taken of the moon showing tracks and equipment left behind. I feel sorry for you guys if you walk around thinking this way. No wonder it's such a mess over there. If your joking, sorry.

Do you think the space shuttle was used for spying purpose? Do you guys not know we have plenty of "spies" in the military and don't need a bunch if science nerd engineers with pencils spying on anyone. US intelligence capabilities is a bit more sophisticated that needing to put together a group of make believe scientist to act as spies. This is like 50s thinking mentality.

Get caught up with the times (your thought processes are like a good 30 to 40 years or so behind) and watch out, those satellites are probably Vermont down on you right now since your talking it about on the net which is monitored by key words.

If your super satellites and drones are that good let them do the climate research.

So how far did you get in school here?

from that wiki entry "... polls taken in various locations have shown that between 6% and 20% of Americans surveyed believe that the manned landings were faked,..."

Yes and I'm afraid that is a number that is destined to grow. For the time being however Wiki still files it under conspiracy theories.

"This is about science," Plodprasob was quoted as saying on VOA's website on July 7. "But the opposition cried out and newspapers fanned [the issue] and there were threats that the matter would be brought to court."

Amply demonstrated by the posts so far on here, each one trying to blame the government for the failure of the NASA project.

Whereas the reality of the matter was that the delay was incurred because the "treaty" with Nasa would have to be discussed in parliament unless the government wanted to "risk" not doing so. This of course was what the dems were threatening, brandishing Section 190 as their doctrine in the hope that the CC would get involved and dissolve the party if the "treaty with a foreign government" went ahead without discussion in parliament.

The PTP wish to redefine the scope of Section 190 as part of the charter rewrite / amendment.

The PTP government had more than 9 months to bring this up for discussion but it appears that they didn't care until it was too late.

They were and are too busy kowtowing to their grand imperious master to bother about the mundane business of running the country for the benefit of ALL the Thai people instead of just one to say nothing of keeping their snouts in the money trough.

Then they blame everybody else for their own failures.

The mention of NASA always manages to take these threads in wildly diverse directions. Spying against China, the Cold War, over-patriotic Yanks rolling out the stars and stripes, pro-PTP, anti-PTP, toxic plumes from Map Tha Put, James Bond, Rambo and Secret Squirrel.

It's TVF at its best and worst.

This is what happen when we have a world educated by Wiki. I cannot think of once during my 45 years having any tell me, in the US, they thought the landings were faked. Perhaps they were polling Eastern Kentucky Hillbillies who don't have access to TV and have never seen an air plane. Perhaps, they just polled those educated in Thailand or Cuba about the moon landing conspiracy.

But, even if you are paranoid and into world conspiracies, the statement I responded to implied that NASA has nothing to do with space and is simply a front for a spying organization. Forget moon landings, one is hard pressed to deny all space shuttle launches and other space exploration going on since early 80s. So it borders on absurd to try and claim NASA has not been involved in space exploration during the space shuttle era.

Fact is, stuff we are doing now is way beyond technology required to land on the moon. There is just no economic justification for further moon exploration.

This is a little bit the time the Thai army got its knickers in a twist because Google earth was going to show where the army and airforce bases were.

If the real point of this is to look at Southern China, they can bank on the fact that basically every domestic airport has a few clapped out old Russian fighters, there are about 25 strategic bridges crossing the Mekong up in Yunnan somewhere. For gods sake, they could get the Peace Corps volunteers to write an email a day on their blackberries, and no one would be any the wiser. They don't need to send a bloody aeroplane to scope out fixed installations.

I will never forget being up country when all the mess was going on on the Cambodian border in about 1999. They US just parked a plane with a bloody big camera in the local airport and sent it up day after day watching the potential movements of the Cambodian army.

Ironically, none of this NASA stuff would have been an issue if it had been done through the Thai and US military. They would have just done it, and no one of us would be any the wiser.
