Accident Two Dead as Factory Shuttle Van Slams into Truck in Nakhon Ratchasima

A road crash in the early hours of the 26 June, claimed the lives of two men when a factory worker shuttle van collided at high speed with the rear of a trailer truck on Highway 304. Rescue teams confirmed no signs of braking were found at the scene, raising concerns of driver fatigue. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 00:35 near the Amarin Hotel, just 200 metres before the traffic lights at the Lam Phra Phloeng Dam intersection in Ngiu Subdistrict, Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima. Police and rescue teams from Hook 31 Foundation responded promptly to the emergency call. At the scene, authorities discovered a white Toyota commuter van (registration from Bangkok) severely crumpled into the rear of an Isuzu trailer truck (registration from Satun) marked with the logo of “Parasamphan Co. Ltd. 999.” Two men were found dead at the scene: Mr. Supachai Jonbamrung 48, the van driver and Mr. Kasem Rumpol 48, both residents of Nakhon Ratchasima. Rescue workers used hydraulic tools to cut through the wreckage and recover the bodies, which were later transferred to Pak Thong Chai Hospital pending funeral arrangements. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims had been returning to their accommodation in Taku Subdistrict after completing a late shift transporting factory workers around the Pak Thong Chai area. Police noted the complete absence of skid marks on the road, suggesting that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. The van failed to reduce speed before crashing forcefully into the slow-moving truck, leading to the fatal impact. Crime NACC Leads Second Anti-Corruption Media Visit to Chonburi

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has undertaken its second media engagement mission in Chonburi this year, aimed at enhancing transparency and mobilising public oversight in major development projects. The visit, held under the banner of the 2025 Media Relations Programme, took place at the Ravindra Beach Resort & Spa in Na Jomtien, Sattahip District. It brought together central and regional media representatives to deepen understanding of local anti-corruption measures and foster constructive dialogue with key stakeholders. Mr. Saroj Phuengramphan, Secretary-General of the NACC, presided over the event. He emphasised that the initiative was designed to track progress on high-value infrastructure schemes, particularly the Eastern Region National Stadium project in Pattaya, valued at 327.8 million baht. The development, currently under construction with a total of 60 instalment phases, is due for completion in December 2025. To ensure accountability, the NACC’s Chonburi office is working closely with civil society networks and the STRONG Anti-Corruption Club to observe and verify each stage of the project on-site. In addition, the group inspected the 190-million-baht drainage system project linking Soi Thepprasit 9 to Jomtien Beach. The delegation also visited the Amata City Industrial Estate to learn about best practices in preventing corruption within investment approval processes. Key panel discussions were also held, covering topics such as construction permit scrutiny, complaint statistics in Police Region 2 and updates on high-risk projects. Mr. Saroj highlighted the significance of public engagement, as mandated by Section 63 of the Constitution and Section 33 of the 2018 Organic Act on Anti-Corruption. He noted that collaboration among government agencies, the private sector and civil society had boosted trust and yielded tangible outcomes in the national fight against corruption. He also praised the vital role of the press in shaping a corruption-intolerant society. With the recent enactment of the second Anti-SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) Law in 2025, whistleblowers and investigative journalists now benefit from stronger legal protections, enhancing public confidence in reporting wrongdoing. The NACC reiterated its commitment to promoting transparency through multi-sector cooperation and empowering both media and citizens to play an active role in eliminating corruption.
