January 20, 200620 yr 3 POLICEMEN ARRESTED 3 policemen of the Songkhla Special Police Tactical Force accused of driving impounded Mercedes from the province into Bangkok have been charged and will be prosecuted. Police Major General Suweera Songmettha (สุวีระ ทรงเมตตา), the commander of the Highway Police stated that, from the incident in which 3 units of the Songkhla Special Police Tactical Force drove 3 impounded Mercedes automobiles worth 27 million baht from Songkhla into Bangkok, that the action constitutes a crime. The 3 policemen countered that they were simply transporting the impounded vehicles to the Customs Bureau. Police investigation saw irregularities in the paperwork of the 3 policemen, and the 3 men have been charged with intent of sales of goods without paying taxes. Further investigation is underway.
