Quick Question ....

hello all...

planning to marry my g/f in the next month or so........known her nearly a year now

Im living in bkk with her at the moment... but am planning to maybe go back to live in England with her spring/summer time.....

I was under the impression, that you could apply for a settlement visa soon after the wedding...but then had to wait 3 months .. fair enough..

today i was told by the thai lady in a translation office that its now a 6 month wait!???? ..is this true?????

I have a good friend who married his that girl...and after 3 months or so took her back to uk with him.... and Ive also read the imformation on the British embassy website, and also look at this forum 3/4 times a week.....and have seen nothing about a change in the law.

There's no rule about how soon after the wedding you can submit a settlement application. If you wish, you can apply the day after the marriage. Obviously, the length of the relationship will be a factor in deciding whether your wife gets her visa, but you having known her for a year should be acceptable.

Cheers,

Scouse.

i got married last year it just takes about 3 months to get an interview date from the british embassy

Sorry, I missed the original point.

There is no statutory waiting time. The length of time you have to wait between the application and interview is dictated by how long the queue is.

Scouse.
