Is There An American Drugstore/Pharmacy Style In Bk?

Hi,

I was wondering if there was any American Drugstore style in Bangkok. I'd like to buy some flu/cold remedies like Zicam and Vicks that are usually available at Walgreens. Boots and Watson here don't appear to carry such products.

Any ideas where I can find that in Bangkok?

Thanks

A small pharmacy or ask the counter at one of the large ones. For some reason you can get a number of things here without a prescription but other stuff normally sold over the counter in the west is kept behind the pharmacy counter. Also, anything you are looking for do a search with the word Thailand as it may be under a different brand here.

Vicks is available in a number of pharmacies but not sure about Zicam. If Zicam has herbs and stuff in it from outside Thailand it may be hard to find and you might just want to find a good english speaking pharmacist to explain what you want ... all of them should have books to look up Zicam if it is an actual drug. Sorry, I have heard of it but don't know what it is.

I am not sure if Zicam is a non-prescription drugs in the states, but if it is not a prescription drug, you may want a brother, sister, mother,

of father to send it to you in bangkok if you cannot find it here.

Boots or Watsons depending on how esavvy the Pharmacist is, may have a excellent substitue under another name.

When I cannot find exactly what I am looking for here in Thailand and if is not a prescription drug or a specific herbal extract etc,

I have my brother send it to me. He te lls me what the cost of the product or products are and I whip him out a check the same day to cover

his costs with a bit extra to show him my appreciation.coffee1.gif

P.S. some of the herbal extracts I cannot get here. I will say one thing for the good ole U.S.A., they have everything.

I have never seen Vicks being sold anywhere in Bangkok, always had to buy them when I go back to the US.

Boots and Watsons are not pharmacies. You can buy any cold medicine in any of the 20 million pharmacies all over bkk unless you are looking for one with an American Flag outside?

Thanks guys, I'll check maybe at siam paragon or similar.

Zicam is one of the best products to fight flu/cold conditions.

Gone, Walgreens is not a pharmacy per se either, but they carry a lot of useful OTC produts. Yes, a pharmacy with a isa flag on and a banner saying 'welcome to america' would be ideal ;)

Well you dont say where in Bkk you are, however you could do worse than try these places.

Beside the gas station at the bottom of Suk soi 4 there are two shops right next to each other.

Come out of soi 4 turn left at the gas station and the shops are on your LH side.

There is also another decent place up by suk soi 15/17, looks like a dump from the outside, but inside well stocked.

Why go to Siam Paragon to experience more of what you already have? Simply go to any of hundreds of thousands of pharmacies located on just about every Soi. If you see a sign with a green cross outside, walk in and ask. If they don't have it then simply walk to the next block or across the street to the next pharmacy.

I think you have to identify similar, locally available products, then source them.

South East Pharmacy, Sukhumvit Road, Soi 16-ish is generally recognized, based on a broad number of posts here over ~ 10 years, as offering the widest selection at the lowest prices.

Highly recommended cold remedies, based on dozens of posts here over the years, include Apracur and Pabron Cough
