Tiger Strayed Out Of Khao Yai

Featured Replies

My wife tells me that a Tiger has been encountered around the area of the community of Dongmaifai (amphur Sungnerng near Korat, top of the high ridge that over looks Khao Yai and on top of the high ridge that joins up with Wang Nam Khiew, which is further to the South East).

She says that it was sighted around several villagers homes and has taken chickens and calf (cow). Now I am like thinking, mmm another tall tale, but my brothers in law have also found Tiger tracks in the area.

Khao Yai Park is probably about 20 KM from where Dongmaifai is and although the neighbouring area is quite densely forrested, there is quite a large strech of level farmed area between the two areas.

I hope that the Tiger can be returned to the national park before it falls victim (although it is illegal to kill them).

That tiger is in serious danger of becoming part of a spicy soup. I hope he gets turned around and finds some safety.

Exactly

There was one in Surin earlier this year. They supposedly are no longer that far east but 2 rangers at Yod Dom Forest Reserve and Phu Jong Na Yoi National Park (the thumb print looking part of South Ubon) think there are a couple around in Ubon. There are also wild elephants in Buntharik Forest Reserve in Ubon.

Even some white monkeys could be seen in Ubon and Sisaket, just recently.....biggrin.png

May be things are getting better on the wild animal front, no tigers in the village, but last week a little wild jungle pig ran through and no one grab a gun and shot it. The border army has cracked down on people going into th jungle hunting. May see tigers again in the area. Hope they like dog as there is no shortage of dogs. Jim
