Cell Phone For Video Caling On Skype

Featured Replies

I am looking for a cell phone that you can use for skype

We are looking to be able to use skype video calling on the cell phone

I know they exist but not sure which makes and models

The one I know of is the Nokia N8

Anyone else have any recommendations?

Price not an issue

Thanks in advance

LL

Skype on Android phones does this, but not on all models.

Galaxy S plus and Galaxy S Advance both works for video through their front facing camera.

I think somewhere on skypes website it showd the compatible models for video calls.

Samsung Galaxy Mini if you do not want to pay big baht, under 5,000baht.

Has all the apps you need?

I have an iPad so I do not need a flash phone, that is why I bought the Galaxy Mini.

DO NOT buy a Nokia, touch screen is very frustrating.

Personally, I think Samsung phones are much better than Apple iPhones.

The mini does not do video calls, no front camera!

Get the motorola RAZR maxx.

The built quality is better than any of the Samsung phones.

Thanks for your responses

I have learned something new

That you need a phone with front facing camera

in order to do skype video on cell phones

That explains why I cannot do video on on GPad

Having looked at the above comments and my post maybe consider this.

Buy a tablet Samsung or Apple, then, just have a phone for calls only.

The tablet will give you much better picture etc.

Maybe others can comment on what I suggest.

Others may suggest a different tablet from their experience.

I have a S Plus and it will not make video Skype calls. Checking the Skype support it says this phone is not certified for Skype yet but they are working to get phones certified as fast as they can

Skype in cheap android devices will perform poorly (echoes, low quality video feed etc)

i recommend iphone over nokia anytime.

My old Nokia n900 does skype calls with reasonable video -- even over the slow Dtac gsm connection :)

I used my iPhone in combination with Yahoo messenger from Switzerland to see and talk to my now wife in Buriram every day, all sorts of different situations, no problems.

Strange, mine does.

Galaxy s plus (9001), latest firmware 2.3.6 and skype 2.9.0.315

During install I remember it asking to enable video calling as it was not yet certified by skype but would likely work...

Did you enable video calls in the settins page of skype on your phone?

I've been using Skype video calls on a Galaxy S2 phone for over a year. The key is finding a decent broadband (3G) internet point to use it with, not always easy upcountry Thailand unless near a ADSL/wifi point!

Since Skype is now owned by Microsoft, I'd recommend waiting until the release of a whole slew of Windows Phone 8 devices next month. I'm sure it will work better on them than the competition if Microsoft's past behaviour is anything to go by.

Monty, just checked my phone,,,,,,,,,,yes video calls is enabled. I checked the level of Skype,,,,,,same as you and my phone has 2.3.5. Made some Skype calls on phone today. Now it seems to work on video calls but strange thing is the small picture of myself is inverted on my display. The called party said my video to him was clear and normal. Is there a setting to turn off this small video of myself?

I use my T-Mobile USA HTC Sensation and it works great in Phuket when AIS 3G is available. But during peak periods or low signal strength it can be poor quality. On my 3bb home internet I get perfect audio and video with my phone.
