A quickie on behalf of a friend.

If a Thai national were to get a visitor visa for the UK, would they be able to visit southern Ireland?

If not, what to do?

No, they'd require a separate visa for the Republic of Ireland. Once they have their UK visa, they can apply for an Irish visa. For further info, check out the link in this thread to the Irish consulate.
