Isn't owning a firearm illegal in Thailand?

For foreigners, yes. Which makes the gun banners being served on this page pretty funny.

Incorrect. Foreigners can own a fire arm in Thailand legally. They do have meet certain requirements.

But I think you will find their it is illegal to have a concealed weapon in public, unless you qualify for permission e.g. politician

One does not forget a handgun in a kids backpack. That was what you call a test run.

Yes and the ad is beside "Thailand Visas" I guess the two go hand in hand, if your coming to Thailand buy a gun?

Dry run...who knows? but I really doubt it. Brother did a pretty convincing mea culpa. As for his nationality, I'd guess Thai, but since we U.S.'ers come in all shapes, sizes and colors....you get the idea.

What cracked me up was later, inside “citizen services” some old betty was complaining about having to wait outside.

@khwaibah. In the URLs you provided where does it say it is legal to have a concealed weapon in public in Thailand, without applying for authorisation to do so?

Good old internet, another URL below that states "You are not allowed to bring a gun with you into a city, neighborhood, or public areas without a license for carrying one on you".

For creditability, about the website:

The Thailand Law Forum (TLF) was established in 1997 as part of an effort by Thai and American law professors to provide an online English-language resource of Thailand law and academic articles concerning Thai law. TLF’s objectives include: 1) providing an unbiased and comprehensive base of information concerning Thailand and Southeast Asian law and society and 2) to promote better governance and social justice through the dissemination of information and encouragement of dialogue on important legal and social issues.

Came across TSA website today. Is pretty shocking how many people in USA are getting caught trying to take weapons on the plane's, Intentional or not.

Just google TSA Blog for some interesting reading. Not thai related but puts in perspective how common it is.
