Intresting Local Thai People

Featured Replies

I put some pictures from local Thai here. I hope you will follow me.

It is very intresting to see people once, instead of only palmtrees and beaches on photo's.

Thanks for the interesting pix, FD. Sorry I don't have any of my own to add at the moment but I would just like to add the following story:

One of the most interesting Thai people I have met in my many travels to LOS was a very old man I met in Pattaya on my last trip.

I was waiting for some food at a street stall - and he was just hanging around as night fell.

He spoke near perfect English and told me that he had lived in Pattaya all of his life. His wife had passed away several years ago and they didn't have any children.

Rather than be sad about his plight, he was happy to befriend foreigners and have a brief chat with any who wanted to hear his tales of Pattaya, before it was 'spoilt.'

I knew very little of 'the early days' of Pattaya and it was fascinating to hear his stories. He didn't want anything in return - just some company - but I slipped the street stall trader a few baht to make sure he got a meal.

A truly delightful chat - it really helped make my holiday a memorable one.
