Lek Hotel in Pattaya is 700baht a night. It has a swimming pool and an all you can eat buffet breakfast and dinner to enjoy. You can eat even cheaper from the street stalls. Pack some Imodium in case you get the runs. Located at Soi 13 and 2nd Road.

Is the Apex Hotel, Pattaya still there? It's pretty cheap.

The Apex is real scruffy nowadays. If you stay there, opt for a room without a smelly, burned carpet. Pickpocket city, too...

When you're in town...ask for what the locals call a 'kra-tewy'....That roughly translates to 'fresh girl'

For some reason, they're a lot more outgoing than your average bargirl...and with the right sailor, you might not have to pay her anything at all. :o

Bad advice, and we shall not stray into this kind of discussion. :D

So can you recommend a Hotel in BKK and Chiang Mai?

Try here. Reasonable price, and right in the middle of Bangkok.

Here's another one thats gotten a few rcommendations on the forum (Bangkok)

Chiang Mai

This one isn't bad, and is again, right at the centre of the action. You may want to chill out a bit further from the city centre at one of the spa hotels.

Good idea is to ask in the local forums, where you get the most up to date advice.

So you say it's ok to cook in your room. Small fires are ok. Thanks.

You'll find Chiang Mai cooler at this time of year if the heat's getting to you. I personally prefer northern girls anyway :o

I gotta go with CV on this one. The heat in Apr will melt your M&Ms and up north is the only place for me. Not to mention those northern girls, the lower prices, the mountains.

Right in the relaxed heart of things, the Top North (has a pool) or Montri Hotels are reasonably priced and the ladies are just a block SE across the moat (beware of crocs). If you are a motorcyclist, these mountains are a dream ride in almost any direction and you can be out of the heat in minutes. Find a real sweetie and take her with you on your excursions; she will make your day (and nite), translate where necessary and usually make sure that you don't get ripped off. Be careful however - falling in love is known to happen over here 'occasionally'.. :D
