Capacitive Silicon

Featured Replies

I need a small amount of capacitive silicon to custom-make a touchscreen stylus. On-line search seems to lead only to bulk suppliers. Anyone know of a place in Bkk where I could buy a few hundred grams?

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean something like the "Jot" brand styluses? Those use an ITO coating on plastic to form a conductive surface.

If you want to make a custom stylus of some sort, it would probably be simplest just to buy some of the replacement disks for those (along with the ball-end steel connecting pin).

Just realized, you mean "capacitive silicone".

Try also "conductive silicone"; I'm not sure if there's a difference between what is used in stylus tips and what is used for circuits. You might be able to mix your own. Looks like it's just plain old RTV with a lot of very fine metallic particles in it; you might be able to use ultrafine aluminum powder such as would be available in some paint shops, or maybe even mix in some ITO. Worth a try. However, be warned, this might also scratch a touchscreen, especially over time; styluses might use a layer of plain RTV over the top to protect the screen (or maybe they don't, I haven't dealt with that type of stylus).
