They are both offensive.

What's your point? :D

On second thought, don't bother answering, it's a rethoric question. :o

I don't think the first was offensive. Funny, to the point, but not offensive.

The second was clearly drawn with the sole purpose of inciting hatret, no doubt about that.

Here's another example: from Bahrain, 10 June 2002

gallery_16137_334_21732.jpg

It shows a Jew (Israel) teaching the parrot (George Bush and the USA) how to say "I hate Arabs" which the parrot dutifully repeats.

The message being that that the Jews tell America what to say, and that the President of the USA is a trained puppet of the Jewish state.

(A lot of folks) are asking why the west is allowing the threat of mob rule to dictate what the west can and cannot do. Islamofascists have no power other than the threat of violence. Using that threat they have bullied the West into believing that any hint of disrespect to any muslim will result in immediate and violent protest; and the West has bought into the threat.

This is as strange as children clinging to an abusive parent or a woman clinging to an abusive boyfriend or husband. Virtually everyone abused by somebody with Narcissistic Personality Disorder has been there. In one way or another, he has made you dependent on him. If you don't want to be destroyed, you had better wake up.

Part of the problem is that you're dealing with a child (who hasn't yet reached the Age of Reason) disguised as an adult. You must realize that you're dealing with a mental brat trying to control you with his "Don't-go-there" temper tantrums. The only rein on his behavior is what he thinks he can get away with.

So, the more you let him get away with, the wilder he gets.

• "Change your policy, or we will get mad (and blow you up)."

• "Do away with freedom of speech, or we will get mad (and blow you up)."

• "Ban all piggy banks and piggy cartoons, or we will get mad (and blow you up)."

• "Wear a burka, or we will get mad (and gang-rape you)."

• "Keep sending us billions of dollars annually (some of which we use to blow up Jews), or we will get mad (and blow up Jews)."

• "Kiss our ass, or we will get mad (and stop selling you oil)." :o

This, I believe, is the heart of the problem: the psychological and social development of the Muslim within his/her family and community.

All that we "western" non-Muslims take as given in our families and our educational systems - such as child development - sharing - cooperation - self esteem - the skill of argument - the acceptance of defeat - loosing the battle is not loosing the war - trying to do our best whilst realising "no man is perfect" - friendly competition - we are all different - we share our resources through a democratic tradition etc. etc.

All sorts of post-Enlightenment attitudes that some may call liberal, but which all of us are exposed to daily.

The Muslim tradition, with its fundamentalist (believing the truth is only found in one book) religion, its paternalistic family structure and male dominated society - all of these often enforced by physical violence, is still, as a society, at a comparatively primitive stage in its development.

Islam has yet to realise that the tribal laws of the desert do not equip its sons and daughters for the demands of a pluralistic and diverse industrialised world.

Islam needs a Reformation.

A GREAT PLAN

Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan . . . what we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)

I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of one plan for peace. "Books, not Bombs" won't work. The head mullahs won't let anyone read them. If they do, they poke their eyes out.

Here's the plan:

1) The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past &present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini and the rest of them 'good old boys'. We will never "interfere" again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No more sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of who or where they are. France would welcome them.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation would be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself, don't hide here. Asylum would not ever be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers.

5) No "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self sufficient energy wise. This will include developing non-polluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else.

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere". They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if any anyway.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an island some place. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, it would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer.

Now, ain't that a winner of a plan ??

Amen

Good anaylsis Thomas.

Hallelujah! Well said.

There are two ways to change. Evolution or revolution. Hard liner Islamics are trying to make their people choose revolution. All that will do is create a war that they have no chance of ever winning.

The hard-liners are dead-set (literally) against the "evolution" of their religion and their people, as it would ultimately lead to a loss of power for those same hard-liners.

In all fairness, Christianity went through the same phase a couple of hundred years ago. Whereas the Pope and his cardinals/bishops used to be the power behind the governments of various nations, now they have little or no effect on the decisions made by those governments (the seperation of Church and State). The difference being that Christianity didn't go out in a hail of bullets and suicide bombers.

It's for the same reason that their education system seems to concentrate on religious studies and excludes (in many places) women from learning anything. Too many smart people might actually start questioning the decisions made by those hard-liners. Again, this could/would lead to a loss of power.

If the US and Europe would stop supporting Saudi Arabia i would aploud them.

If the US and Europe would stop supporting Saudi Arabia i would aploud them.

What about the Billions the West supported to the other Islam countries, like the after-Tsunami aid (which I applaud for..) the Pakistan Earthquake and so much more?

The Islamic countries and their people have a very short memory when it comes to help/aid but a very long memory when it comes to a few cartoons :o

I wonder when the Iraqis start blaming the West about their own religious fights...Sunits/Shites

Everything bad that happens to anybody is caused by Israel or the US according to these folks.

9/11 for example. :D

GOOD POST, Boon Mee, I didn't think you'd be that 'open-minded', pal.

Better late than never, as they say...

I am pretty concerned that this whole trend will end up in serious restrictions on free speech. It's often stated that others' deeply held beliefs should be respected. What if I deeply believed the earth is flat? (Seems pretty similar to me to religious beliefs, which to my mind, is just having imaginary friends cause your scared and lonely). Would everyone respect it and not laugh? Crap.

I cannot respect any religion simply because I really think it's pure <deleted>. I can respect your right to believe the <deleted>, but don't ask me to respect the belief. I will not.

Not yet.... :o

I found a blog from a girl in Egypt (?). She had a copy of the Egyptian newspaper that had published some of those same Mohammed cartoons back in Oct 05, during Ramadan of all times !

The front page of the paper shows the date "17 Oct 2005"
