Public Amenities In Jomtien

The work on the Public Sports Complex and the Public Water Park, both in Jomtien, is moving quickly now, especially the Sports Complex. It's reported that the Sports Complex will have a swimming pool, squash court, tennis courts, jogging tracks and an indoor games building. The squash court can be seen in the photograph.

The Public Water Park is being built much more slowly; I guess the land-scaping is the major task. I've been told that the Water Park will have several picnic areas, a fishing lake and a boating lake. The trees have been delivered but have been standing in their pots for some months.

Both developments are on Soi 7 running from Theprasit Road to Soi Watboonkanchana.

Wondered what the strange concrete structure is that you can see from the road. Now we know. Thanks for that.

The water park area at the other side is vast, all the trees are lined up in rows ready to be put in the ground around the new lakes. Gonna be really nice when it's finished.

I think what Jomtien very need are a good zoning & building regulations, and street cleaning truck once a week...

The city is very messy, dirty, and dusty :o

Just my thought

Woha.. we have three sets of traffic lights that sometimes work AND our very own garbage truck that also sometimes works. I know because I saw them all one day last year. :o

Gotta love them....when they got their priority straight!

I might just have to run for the major myself when I move there in a few year!...sort of new self-help program!

Just to keep you up to date, here are the latest pictures of the new sports complex and the water park being built in Jomtien. Progress on the water park is very slow indeed although the sports complex is developing very quickly.

That's very good Artisan, thanks for that, I often pass it on the back road now that soi Wat Boon is dug up at the bottom (again) but you can't see the scale of it very well from the road. I think maybe you have a birds eye view of it from your back bedroom right?

The access to the complex is not very good is it? Or am I coming at it the wrong way.

Almost a bird's eye view Rimmer. Access is OK, although via this narrow winding concrete back road that you mention...but, who knows what is planned for this area in the near future?

Update on building progress....17th April.

The Sports Complex

Landscaping, treeplanting and painting of the buildings taking place. It looks like there is an entry gate at both ends, although there isn't any sign of a road at the west side yet. Look closely and you'll see some odd conical structures in front of the main buildings. There is a swimming pool in front of the 3-storey building on the left. It looks like a swimming pool because the "hole" has been lined with blue ceramic tiles and sometimes I can see the heads of people standing and working in the hole.

The Water Park

Scant progress other than surfacing the road and constructing (slowly) a hotel/condo/office at the west side (not shown in the picture).

The new Sports Centre in Jomtien is nearing completion. The landscaping is almost done and work inside the buildings is taking place all day and all night. I've also heard that there will be a sub-office of the Banglamung District Office here. No progress observed on the Water Park, except that the water holes are filling with rain.

The City Hall planners have also said that Jomtien Third Road will run past the entrance to this new complex..........what's happening with Jomtien Second Road?

The finished article....athough it looks as though it isn't just a Sports Centre. There is a rumour that the new Nongprue Municipality Offices will be located here also. Anyone know anything about this?

As for the Water Park...well, I've seen jet-skiing, fishing and swimming, including a herd of cows wading up to their udders but all construction work has stopped.
