Was last seen having tea with OBL on the back of a donkey travelling through the mountains of Yemen. OBL was still connected to his Kidney Dialisys machine..... I can´t believe the yanks can´t find these <deleted>.

why bother with catching those terrorists, they will strike again and again until we give up to their demands. So far it has been working.

I get a sneaking suspicion that the US doesn't really want to catch OBL that badly.

After all, once he is caught, most of American's justification for being in Afghanistan is gone. Especially with the Iran situation, I think certain people in the US like the idea of OBL running loose. It keeps a very large contingent of US military personnel in the region that wouldn't be there otherwise. (Know that the American presence in Afghanistan is almost entirely dedicated to tracking down OBL and the remnants of the Taliban.)

20,000+ troops on one side, 150,000+ on the other side, and another member of the "Axis of Evil" (Iran) smack dab in the middle. No hassles with arranging to overfly other countries or transporting troops and equipment.

I've been noticing that the diatribe against Iran has been gaining momentum recently on "news" channels like Fox News and CNN. The Iranian president plays right into the hands of the US when he makes radical comments about Israel and the holocaust, and with his actions regarding Iran's nuclear program.

As it stands now, the US has a lot more justification for attacking Iran than it did for attacking Iraq. I wouldn't be surprised to learn one day that the US wanted to take out Iran first, then go after Iraq, but had to go with Iraq in the end because they thought it would be the easier victory. I don't think the people that made those decisions planned on having to deal with a wide-scale insurgency.

In fact, I'll bet they thought the Iraqis would flock to them as the almighty saviors, and once they were established in Iraq, they could then set their sights on Iran. North Korea (the last member of the "Axis") is too big of a problem to deal with now, especially with China next door.

Think on this. The main reason the "coalition" invaded Iraq was that Iraq supossedly had the dreaded "Weapons of Mass Destruction" (WMDs) and was prepared to use them (most likely against Israel).

Now Iran is (allegedly) trying to build a nuclear weapon (definitely a "WMD") and has publicly stated that Israel should be wiped off the map. (Iran supports the Palestinian cause, but have they considered what kind of homeland the Palestinians would have if they (Iran) nuked Israel ?)

Korea also has a nuclear program of some kind, but I don't think they are a threat to Israel, at least not yet.

Methinks things are going to get a whole lot worse before they get better.

The biggest problem with Iran is that their head of state was an active participant in the invasion of the US Embassy in 1979. That takeover was no different than an invasion of US soil. That is all any US citizen needs to know about him. He is the enemy plain pure and simple.

The US can't do shit in Iran, even the Bush admin knows this. It will bankrupt America and US soldiers can't fight anyhow, low numbers and low moral.

The only thing is the US army is good at is bombing civilians in empty villages from a confortable 10,000 feet. Not much risk and very coward.

The war in Iraq is a lesson to learn that will have more consequences than the Vietnam war. The Bush supporters claim that the Iraq War is the most significant event since WW2. I agree. It is the beginning of a falling superpower.

As for the president of Iran, so what ? he was leading a contra-revolution in his country, he is one of the the liberators from one of the worst tyran in the ME. The USA was a complice in the atrocity of Iran

I am sure other liberators in France did the same when they invaded the Kommendantur in Paris.

as some presidential historian said the other day.... AMerica is becoming more like the people the original settlers were trying to get away from.

Sure .... one scratchy photo .... no big deal and certainly not above suspicion.

But one photo piled on top of the other mountain of evidence of the guy's extremist anti-west behavior throughout his entire adult life, is just that. It's sort of like another inch of snow on top of the Alps in winter, just restating the obvious.

Face it, the guy is an Islamic neo-facist hard-liner who will settle for nothing less than Islamic fundamentalist tyrannies from the Mediterranean to the Bay of Bengal. He believes that he is the one to be able to make this happen. Dangerous guy in a dangerous scenario.

The belief that Islam forbids portrayals of Muhammad is recently acquired. Back when Muslims created things, rather than blowing them up, they made paintings, frescoes, miniatures and prints of Muhammad.

''But apparently the Quran is like the Constitution: It's a "living document," capable of sprouting all-new provisions at will. Muslims ought to start claiming the Quran also prohibits indoor plumbing, to explain their lack of it.

''Other interpretations of the Quran forbid images of humans or animals, which makes even a child's coloring book blasphemous. That's why the Taliban blew up those priceless Buddhist statues, bless their innocent, peace-loving little hearts.'' FrontPage magazine.com :: Calvin and Hobbes - and Muhammad by Ann Coulter

And, talking about Europe’s approaching 9/11 date, leave it to Ann Coulter to put it in a way that's self-evident:

“The little darlings brandish placards with typical Religion of Peace slogans, such as: "Behead Those Who Insult Islam," "Europe, you will pay, extermination is on the way" and "Butcher those who mock Islam." They warn Europe of their own impending 9/11 with signs that say: "Europe: Your 9/11 will come" -- which is ironic, because they almost had me convinced the Jews were behind the 9/11 attack.”

She goes on to add:

“Largely unnoticed in this spectacle is the blinding fact that one nation is missing from the long list of Muslim countries (by which I mean France and England) with hundreds of crazy Muslims experiencing bipolar rage over some cartoons: Iraq. Hey -- maybe this democracy thing does work! The barbaric behavior of Europe's Muslims suggests that the European welfare state may not be attracting your top-notch Muslims.”

Makes sense to me! :o

boon, with reference to Iraq "missing" from the list of countries complaining.... Just an idea i'd like ot throw out, but maybe the war, and women and children etc... being blown up and stuff, maybe that is distracting them from getting angry aboutsome cartoons.... As far as I'm concerned (and I've still not seen said cartoons) but if really, we are now down to blowing up embassy over some cartoons, we need to find some hobbies to keep us busy.

(I use we and us to incorporate the fact that we all live here together)

So yeah, I reckon that the little war over there is probably keeping them busy.

Now Iran is (allegedly) trying to build a nuclear weapon (definitely a "WMD") and has publicly stated that Israel should be wiped off the map.

I think I've heard something just like this one a few years back... :o They're not going to pull that one again are they?

The religion is so restrictive that one of the only outlets of frustration is cartoon violence.

It has been quite amusing reading the news headlines recently.

"Cartoons spark riots"

"5 die after cartoon unrest"

"anti cartoon protestors burn embassy"

does anyone else find this type of headline amusing?

Not the story itslef, but just reading the headline.

"Road Runner finally catches Coyote, sparks cartoon revolution"

"Mini Mouse slammed for not wearing a bag on her head, Mickey put on the FBI most wanted list for allowing it"

Cartoon Jihad is Winning

The real reason behind the suppression of the Danish cartoons is becoming appallingly clear, as a British political magazine publishes and then un-publishes them: Political magazine pulls cartoon after police warning.

The reason is fear.

Politics magazine the Liberal has followed the Spectator in publishing then hastily withdrawing from its website one of the controversial Danish cartoons featuring the prophet Muhammad.

The independent title, which played a prominent role in the campaign to oust former Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy by organizing a petition, yesterday published a cartoon on its website alongside an editorial calling for free speech.

Senior police officers at Scotland Yard warned the magazine its staff could not be guaranteed protection from possible protests, after which the cartoon was pulled from the Liberal’s website and replaced by a large white square with the word “censored” placed over it.

Following the withdrawal of the cartoon, Ben Ramm, the magazine’s editor, announced on the website: “Despite our wishes and convictions, for reasons of safety the magazine will no longer carry the cartoon itself.”

In an earlier online editorial accompanying the publication of the cartoon, Mr Ramm had taken a strong line in support of free speech. “[The Liberal] will not be coerced into self-censorship by the threat of violence from those who use a platform of free speech to call for the destruction of the very system that enfranchises them,” he wrote.

Step away from the pen and raise both hands… :o

Speaking of the peaceful and tolerant religion of Islam. Many people claim the violence is the work of very small percentage of the population.

Cartoons that are often violently anti-western, anti-Jewish cartoons appear in mainstream Arab media all the time, yet little (if anything) is said about it. These would not be shown in many of of those papers/magazines unless they were supported by the politicians/rulers of the nations in which those publications appear. The media in most Arab countries tends to be controlled much tighter than in western democracies.

Ergo, those anti-western/Jewish cartoons are popular with more than just a "small percentage" of the population.

We have been seeing the co-ordinated, usually violent Muslim reaction to cartoons depicting Mohammed. If westerners/Jews were to stage similar protests (riots) in Arab cities, outraged over the anti-western/Jewish cartoons, what do you think the Muslim reaction would be ?

I don't think you'd see a lot of peace or tolerance shown if the shoe was on the other foot.

True but keep in mind that muslims bashing has always been popular in the West. So they are fighting back also with cartoons ? why are you surprised by this ?

Palestinians are being persecuted by Israel. I think if we had cartoons of Hitler and his nazi friends, we would gladly accept it. Why not with Israel ? are they getting a free ride because of what happened in WW2 ? how long can that free ride last ?

If you parents were killed/tortured by the nazis, would you call it a free ride then. :o

The Muslims were putting out anti-sametic cartoons well before the Danish Imans whipped up their "mob".

Amazing how a cartoon against Muslims can be worse than cutting off an innocents head eh? :D

I think you read me wrong. Israel is claiming anti-jewish sentiments everytime it's caught in lies and different "manipulation".

I am not refering to the jewish community, but to a state that is not ashamed to use the dead of the "hollocaust" to justify its "destructive" agenda. This is shameful.

I think that you look at one side only.Unlike you, I think they are both equally a bunch of ar$eholes.

The Hollocaust happened.muslims are complaining about a fairy story called their religion...(may as well believe in the secret hand. :o ) yet it's ok for them to take the piss out of other people religion..or Grimms Tales etc. Doubl;e standard bunch of pricks.<deleted> 'em. I won't be as absolute as you are. Israel has the right to exist, so do the Palestinians.

As for religion, the Christians have been through that path before, so Islamic terrorism is not a first in this regard. Christians have been far worst in the past. It's normal. And who say it won't happened again with the Christians ?

As for the other side killing innocents, they do already in Iraq. So we have no excuse or no moral high ground to have on the subject. We are all guilty.

We are doomed already. Free Speech restrictions have nothing to do with religion, only with power. Power through religious leaders or non-religious leaders will always try to "restrict" free speech. Leaders don't like to be questioned or exposed to the truth. May it be Stalin (a non-religious leader), or GW Bush (the second coming of the Christ), those leaders have done everything in their power to restrict "freedom" and free speech. You are blaming muslims extremists as a threat of free speech without realizing that the greatest threat to free speech has come from within, that is from those in power. You are being played.

You are right, but suppose you mean by 'you' the people in general?

There are still many countries in the world where 'freedom of speech' is limited by the governments and thus, YES, by the (religious)-Leaders in those countries who have the power :D indeed that has nothing to do with just the Islamic extremists; it's all over the world.

BUT, I am a bit sick and tired that the publicity -all-over-the-world is giving these Islamic extremists the 'space' to ventilate their thoughts that THEIR Religion/Believe is the ONLY one in the world that counts....and that ANYONE who does not belong to 'Allah' is doomed :D for being a non-believer... :D

I wish everyone would respect the others' religion and not bash and beat it :D

I would say: PRAY in SILENCE in your own Religion/Believe and go home in peace and SHUT UP! :D

Well, that is certainly a more reasonable reaction than would happen if those same JW's tried knocking on doors in most Arab countries. In many Arab countires (for example, that shining light of peace and tolerance, Saudia Arabia), you would face the death penalty if caught trying to convert Muslims to Christianity (or any other non-Muslim religion for that matter).

(btw: if I see any of those JW's pulling into my driveway, I'll strip down and answer the door naked, then ask them if they are here for the pagan orgy !) :D
