phuketrichard Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Breaking this away from the asking about hotels in Sing. Can anyone reccommend a hotel near the Thai Emassy in KL or for that matter a nice one ( say under 2,000 baht) Thanks
schlog Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 The Nomad Sucasa Hotel. 1 min walking distance to the thai embassy. Breakfast is lousy but the pool is great. Taxis are really cheap in KUL, so I prefer the city center area. Novotel, next to Pavilion, good and sometimes under 2000 bath.
Chantal Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 We also stay at The Nomad Sucasa. It is conveniently located to the Thai embassy. 1

schlog Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Be careful about ripped off by Taxi Drivers in KL. World ranked for being rude and not using meter. Never had a problem with taxis in KUL. Not one taxi driver tried not to use meter. Can't share your statement.
Paangjang Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Why is this in the Phuket forum? Isn't KL in Malaysia?...
LivinginKata Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Why is this in the Phuket forum? Isn't KL in Malaysia?... Right - but let's allow this as it relevant for Phuket folks.

steelepulse Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Easy to take the Malaysia Air flight down, next day go the the embassy, then next day pick up your visa, head to KL Central, check in for you flight, then take express train to the airport that gets you there 1.25 hours before your flight, so you have time to eat and shop in the main terminals.
phuketrichard Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 thanks; was looking at the air asia flight s both airlines u need spend two nights cause of arrival time in KL Malaysia air 6,100 return.leaves Phuket at 10;30 am is the departure time of 5:15 enough time to get to airport an check in after you pick up passport air asia 6,200 leaves phuket at 1:30 but departs at 6:10 From central what would the taxi costs be and travel time?
schlog Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 From central what would the taxi costs be and travel time? 70-80 MYR normal taxi. app. 1 hour.
simple1 Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Be careful about ripped off by Taxi Drivers in KL. World ranked for being rude and not using meter, Never had a problem with taxis in KUL. Not one taxi driver tried not to use meter. Can't share your statement. Was in KL a few weeks ago and only some taxis agreed to use the meter. The taxis outside of the Thai embassy were the worst, the guy from Sri Lanka seems to control them & the drivers charge fixed fares as opposed to using the meter. naturally just walk over the road & try to flag down a metered taxi

steelepulse Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 The Bukit Bintang area is a good place to stay being a 12 ringgit taxi ride away from the embassy and close to pavillion mall. Lot of choices for accommodation in the area. For transport, you can take a bus to KL Central from the airport for 10 ringgit or so, and then take the express train from KL central back to the airport(30 ringgit). You'll have plenty of time for the Malaysia Air flight if you pick up your passport right when the embassy opens in the afternoon. 1

Flag down a taxi in front of the embassy and you will have no problem to get a meter ride. Had the most funniest taxi rides ever in KUL with old chinese drivers.
