Hi

Can anyone tell me price of basic auto Elantra in TL?

Also what is the warrantee do they have 5 years standard as in other countries? What about depreciation?

Someone advised me against Hyundai as not too many service centres but there seems to be ones in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai so not sure if that a problem

If like me you prefer proper MT and as much power as you can get, 899,000 gets you 150bhp and 178 nm torq it does not seem such a bad deal, is there any other MT cars that offer this engine power as standard for less than 1M baht?

Nice interior too, shame the MT only gets the 15" wheels, not the 17's but nothing a trip to a wheel shop could not fix

cheers

The base model Civic 1.8L 5MT makes 141HP/174Nm for 773K.

The Chevy Cruze 1.8L 5MT makes 141HP/177Nm for 845K.

If you count dual-clutch as MT (same efficiency as) then the Focus 2.0L 6-speed makes 170HP/202Nm for 959K.

Yep, I've read of reports regarding the old focus where they raced the MT version versus the dual clutch version (TDCI) and 9/10 drives recorded faster 0-100 times in the dual clutch car. Not sure about the petrol version though.

Also called the i30....... to me one of the best looking cars in this class, downside here is less standard equipment and high import cost.., pity as looks so much better than the bland Altis and new Civic

Now for me the i30 Tourer {estate/wagon] with the diesel engine, guess will never see it here.

My brother bought an Elantra a few years ago in back in the US. He loves it, and I can attest that is a very nice, surprisingly well-equipped car... for the money HE paid for it.

He bought his because he needed a cheap car for long commutes - the Hyundai price was well below the price of a similar model Honda, Toyota, Nissan (pretty much everything except for Daewoo). Here in Thailand, with the taxes in place, you will find that this model is significantly more expensive than the competition. The price here is nearly double the US price - you're not getting any more car for this money, you're just paying more taxes. I personally, can't see how this car can possibly be a good buy here, but my brothers car is about 3 years old, so perhaps I am mistaken about the current price. Anybody know if this is correct?

here the Elantra stopped be imported in 1999, the new one we are talking about here is really to new to judge what a 3 year old one would be like....

One the other hand the bigger model, Sonata EXE 2.4 is better equipped then the same size Honda Accord, in fact at a quick glance at the 2008 model they look very much the same......... here a 2008 2.4 Accord is at least 250,000 baht more than the same looking better equipped Sonata EXE 2.4...

Edit in 2008 the Accord cost 250,000 baht more new, so the Imported Sonata loses no more than the Accord of the same year !!

As with all imported cars here [unless your loaded or must have new] 3 or 4 year old is a much better buy and most makes by far are better equipped then local build cars.....

Of course someone MUST buy new or we could not buy a 2nd hand model.

I`m Korean, And had expiriance with Hyungdai Motor company as metrial (intetior) design.

After that, i decide one thing. i`ll never buy Hyungdai and Kia anymore.

Becouse, They care only visible parts.

But, i`m understand US people buy Hyngdai or Kia, cos, cheaper(longer warranty, or whatever) than Japanese car.

In Thai, more expensive than Japanese car. I told my korean friends this, most of them sneer to who buy in Thai.

<Korean name is "Avante", sister model in Kia recently "K3", also Check about GDI engine problem >
