November 7, 201213 yr I am a New Zealand qualified Primary Teacher with many years experience teaching in Thailand. I am planning to set up a very small school (of sorts) using English as the medium of instruction, on an eco-farm in Bang Phra, Chonburi Province. Basically I will be teaching my two sons (5 and 8 years old) using English first language programs and developing life skills based on programs like Habits of the Mind. Children will be working on holistic programs based at their own developmental levels. I am interested in 'unschooling' type concepts but still value the need for some types of structure. If there anyone who lives in the Sri Racha, Bang Saen, Chonburi areas that might be interested in their child joining us, please contact me.
November 10, 201213 yr Remember you will need a work permit for such a project to say nothing of approval from the Ministry of Education. Moved to teaching section for better advice
November 11, 201213 yr It might be worthwhile to contact padma (email edited out) she set something similar up in hua hin, based on a homeschool model encouraging freethinking, its a non profit school, and by all reports quite a successful schooling model, hopefully my son will be attending in about 7 years(hes only 12months a.t.m.)
November 11, 201213 yr Author Yes, I'm working on the legality side of this and although it may not be easy, I think it will be possible.
