Marriage Proceedure For Recently Divorced

Featured Replies

I would like to marry my TG of 2 years in Thailand and after searching this site I believe that if you are recently divorced you can not re marry in less than 310 days as below

." A widow or divorcee will be permitted to remarry not less than 310 days after the previous marriage has expired, unless she

Has given birth to a child. .......or is

Remarrying the same person........or is

Not pregnant, as certified by doctor. (in case of early remarriage).......or an

Approval to remarry from a court is obtained"

Does this mean if you are not pregnant or if you have had the child you can marry but if the child is unborn you cannot ?

In my case I will be divorced in march and i want to marry in April and my Tg is expecting, can any one with experience let me know the proceedure here

Was your previous wife Thai?

No Aussie Falang wife

Do I need to visit the australian Imigration office before I go to get some kind of authority or permission to marry again outside of Australia?

I think you will find the 310 day waiting period only relates to divorced women.

From http://www.siam-info.de/english/marriage.html

“After divorce of an earlier marriage, women must keep one waiting period by 310 days, before a marriage ceremony can renewed up to. This waiting period can be shortened if necessary by a gynecological appraisal.”

Another link worth visiting is the Australian Embassy site.

http://www.austembassy.or.th/abroad/getting_married_eng.php

I have read on other sites that the Thai Authorities will only accept a Statutory Declaration from the Bangkok Embassy. I can't verify that info.

This site provides a good guide to getting married as well.

Hope this helps.
