Denmark with its provinces renamed, Jylland (Jutland) becomes Jihadland, Roskilde becomes Moskeilde, Copenhagen becomes Couscous-havn, The island of Bornholm becomes Fredags bönholm (Friday prayer place)… :o

It's funny, about 2 years ago I heard that there was an "inside" joke going around the E.U. political circles. The joke was about which E.U. country would be the first to enact Sharia (Islamic) law.

This explains why they can't keep their butter cookie eating hands off our northern islands. :o

Can see why they're a prime target. Their main contribution in WW2 was to surrender even faster than France.

Then perhaps you should open the history-books again and read more about it, if you think it was something they wanted to do.

This is getting off topic but you started it ...

The comment above shows your ignorance. Denmark was, like most other countries in the region, being assured by Hitler that he would not attack. Of course one morning he did, shooting his way though the border. There were casualties on the Danish side. Obviously nobody foresaw this and NATO had not yet been invented. How can you compare this with France, a country roughly the size of Germany? What do you expect the country of Denmark, with at the time less than one million citizens to do against the German war machine?

Denmark however had some of the toughest, bravest underground movement seen during WWII, helped moving endless refugees through to neutral Sweden and certainly doing what they could to help fighting the Germans.

:o

PS. Where were Canada during WWII ? Was it even "invented" yet?

I don't think that would be possible :o

Yeah, where was Canada ? Oh yeah, after the British fiasco at Dunkirk, Canadian troops were protecting England until the British army could recruit and train a new force.

While technically a part of the British forces, Canadians had their own air force, navy and army. At the end of World War II, Canada possessed the third-largest navy and fourth-largest air force in the world, as well as the largest volunteer army ever fielded.

We should have received a permament place on the UN Security Council, along with England, France, Russia, the US and China. In fact, we should have been on the council instead of France ! Unfortunately, as we were considered a part of "British Commonwealth" (i.e. a British colony), we were screwed out of a place on the council.

During D-Day, the Canadian divisions had their own beach to take (Juno). The US had 2 and the Brits had the other 2. After taking the beach, the Canadians were responsible for sweeping the Germans out of the Netherlands (Holland and Denmark) as well as Norway. As a sign of gratitude, Queen Beatrix of Holland still sends 5,000 tulips to Canada every year.

(Oh yeah, Canada became it's own country in 1867, although it was still considered a part of the "Dominion")

Canada did well in WWII, but weren't going to even join in (they were going to bottle it like the yanks did) until Churchil went over there and told them with you or without you Britain is going to take on Germany, once they made up their minds the (Canadian) boys done good :o

Denmark is not part of The Netherlands. (Denmark, Norway and Sweden together forms Scandinavia. Scandinavia with Finland, Iceland, Faroe Islands and Greenland forms The Nordic Countries.)

The Brits declared war on Sept.3 1939, us on Sept 10. The one week delay was due to the need to recall parliment for the vote. Churchill was not even in power until 8 months later.

The Americans were bound by neutrality to not fly warplanes onto forgien soil. So they flew them to the Canadian border and pushed them across. That helped kick-start our airforce until the aircraft plants could come on line. Several thousand U.S. civilians also joined our army, navy, and air force, so they weren't exactly sitting it out either.

From Wikipedia:

"King (W.L. Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada) realized the necessity of World War II before Hitler invaded Poland in 1939, but unlike World War I where Canada was automatically at war as soon as Britain joined, King asserted Canadian autonomy by waiting until September 10, when a vote in the House of Commons took place, to support the government's decision to declare war. During this time Canada was able to acquire weapons from the United States. Upon declaring war Canada would not be able to purchase weapons from the US, under the US policy then in force of not arming belligerents. This issue soon became a moot point as the American embargo was repealed in November 1939."

1944 Canadian population: 10.5 million

1944 Total serving members in all service branches: 1.1 million
